I have been oil painting for almost 50 years, did the academic studies in art school and your videos and thoughts on making art have helped me come closer to what I've been searching for all these years - the validation of oneself as an artist without worrying about what's wrong or right. Gracias Jose!

I just bought this painting on eBay. Jose, I have recently started painting and have been trying to absorb as many free lessons and educational things as I can... I really like your philosophy, attitude and gregarious style. I bought the painting as a reminder and inspiration for the style I am trying to achieve. May you have much success.

I try to paint loose but still cant stop myself from getting into details . maybe one day lol . thank you for your refreshing style possitive talks 👍

Thanks. I always work to paint loosely and this is more encouraging :) My motto is - if you think, you're not creating. Great painting. It's alive. I love that spontaneous red that a "traditional" artist might not dare.

I think the term Loose Brush Style is what I have looked for in my very short artistic life. Is that a term you coined or does it exist? It is close to Impressionism way of painting (without detail), don't you think?

I love the freedom to create. Thank you for encouraging this Jose. By the way, it is helpful to see how you hold the brush. I think the important point for a loose brush style is not to hold the brush too tightly. So please show us your hand in these videos.It all helps.

Agree with your overall conceptual thought of expression as an individual artist, however, one must have technical knowledge of what makes what happen, then you apply that knowledge to your own personal style. Indeed a very unique application of "the rules," lol BTW, I do like the painting very much!
@JoseTrujillo5 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much :)
@cap8717 жыл бұрын
Dear Mr. Trujillo, as a fairy beginner painter I find the biggest problem is not the "technical skills", although that is always an issue. The problem I find is how derivative and repetitive the art is. You can barely tell the difference between dozens of artists who all paint the exact same way with the exact same style barring minimal differences. One of the reasons I love your work is that it has your style, a specific sense of the art, of the style that is very much yours. I have watched a lot fo your videos and between the actual art and the artistic philosophy I come away smarter. Thanks

Theres no right or wrong in art i agree.. They say do things "right" first.. Because the logic behind is enhancing the skills.. For me theres nothing in realism.. People just like it.. It's like exhibition.. But realism will make u understand all light principles.. The physics that lie behind things..so if u try to do a realistic face using a pencil.. Your shading, knowledge in light sources, etc will get better..

I can see your concern Leo German, however taking in consideration the time, design, materials, and the fact that he makes such a faithful contribution to share his talent with the world... Let me tell you 50 dollars is a great bargain. He is an honest man and deserves respect for the artist he is.

I can see your concern Leo German... However considering the time, the design and the materials. 50 dollars is a real bargain, not only he makes a faithful contribution to artists but he also shares his knowledge freely with whomever is willing to listen. I do believe Trujillo is the real deal, and he deserves respect for the artist he is.

Every admiration for your approach, attitude, artistic skill and worthwhile finished creation - the visuals are excellent BUT the content and sound quality of the audio make the mute button essential for pleasurable viewing. You're a great painter, artist even but leave the life-coaching alone, eh?
@justsayin40176 жыл бұрын
+Dreadnaught This is exactly Jose,s point do NOT limit yourself to pleasing.the politically correct minority, create only to please yourself. What you refer to as "life coaching" as you can see consistantly in the comments of all of his videos the majority of viewers call "encouragement" and liberty of not feeling under obligation to conform. Most of the Masters were non conformist,s and were deemed scandalous in their time. And as you said already you mute the sound so let those who enjoy listening listen : D

Jose you are wrong about realism. Think how much it cost a Da Vinchi panting or a Caravagio and how much a painting like yours. But its not only about money. For example thing again how much valuable was a realistic portrait before photography arrives.
@JoseTrujillo Жыл бұрын
Nope! Realism is not valuable because of the work in it. Lol The paintings you mentioned are not "Realism". They are valuable because the artists were famous. Have you heard or Mark Rothko, Basquiat, Picasso, or Matisse?
