I have another painting with snow in it. I see shadows and thought oh my they are so dark but now I see the why of it. I cannot wait to try tomorrow. Well maybe on Friday after Thanksgiving here in the states. Tomorrow is baking and makin side dishes. Yet my heart is being pulled to the art table in my room. This turned out beautifully! No matter how many times I painted this they all turned out differently. I switched up cotton paper makers and switched up paint brands. Isn't water colour a marvelous medium!

Karen, this painting gave me so much joy! I am planning to paint a red barn in the snow and I will be using a lot of these technique ideas with a different color palette for that painting. I am trying to work on my dry brushing techniques because I love the texture that it adds, but I struggle to get a strong enough color because I put my tube colors into wells and let them dry off. Once I re-wet them, it is hard to get enough pigment on the brush without the brush being too wet. Trying to find the right balance. Your content is so inspiring for me and gives me courage to try new things.

Thank you so much Ashley! A really good tip for paint that has dried...spray it about an hour before you start painting, it moistens the paint and you will get more paint on your brush and help with the dry brush technique! Hope this was helpful! Happy painting 😀

Love this so much. I would love to do some spiritual natured cards for the sick and homebound in my church or anyone I feel could be encouraged by these. For this one the scripture popped into my head, “My sheep hear my voice and another they will not follow”. It could be changed in the background according to the seasons or just by using something that went well with it. I also, thought of the lost sheep and Jesus leaving the 99 to find him. It could be tweaked to show a set of hoof prints headed in the wrong direction toward an embankment. I realize this is not for everyone and honestly it just hit me as you were wrapping this up. My biggest problem is the printing of the brief referral or sentiment. I also want to do Santa….the old Coca Cola Santa! Santa is the spirit of joy and giving which I love….also I love Coca Cola, but sadly am diabetic. Thankful for Coke Zero. Have a Happy New Year Karen! Looking forward to learning more from you. Love this one. I had to give it a go. I love the finished painting but also captured a portion of one of the sheep digitally and I absolutely love it.
