I know I'm late but i just got into it. I'm on my like, 6th mini painted now. My fifth was a Bloody Rose sister but i didn't like how she turned out as much as i should have. I watched this video, used my best attempt with my army painter set, and i was so happy with the outcome. Thank you so much!

This tutorial is amazing. I'm definitely going to use it when painting my sisters. Do you think watered down nuln oil could be a suitable replacement for coelia greenshade to get a darker shade on the red?

No problem - it depends on the effect you want so maybe try on some spares You could either go ushabti bone, thinned guilliman flesh in the recesses then highlight screaming skull Or for a more desaturated look, rakarth flesh, agrax earthshade and then pallid wych flesh highlights

Thinking about using a can of Mephiston spray to speed the process but should i still use a base of wraithbone for better covering or the Mephiston is enough ? great videos btw !
@ThePaintingCoach

Yes Mephiston will be fine - i would say that perhaps using this over a black undercoat would be good as you can get some natural shadow - if not though plain Mephiston is fine!

Can I make a suggestion as somebody who has painted a LOT of black robes? I love to base with Vallejo Model Black. It's honestly the best black base I've ever used and spreads so much more evenly than GW's black.

A bit late to the party, but would Chaos black work as the undercoat? Or do you recommend Corax white spray?

Yes you can start with black, will just take some extra layers. Corax white spray is now discontinued as well, but the white scar replacement is very good

I have a question, for an army painter who might have a lot of models to chew through/not as much spare time to get to the level of detail you have by the end, when would you say is a worthwhile stopping point before moving onto the next model?
@ThePaintingCoach
@ThePaintingCoach 4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the question Valerie! The answer should always be what you are happy with and what you like - they are your army afterall! If i was looking to shorten this, you could leave off some of the highlighting - on the weapons, metallics etc and not go into as much on the red I hope that helps - I'd love to see what you create!

@ThePaintingCoach
@ThePaintingCoach 2 жыл бұрын
Depends on many factors - corax white is off-white, but can be tricky if it is too cold and if there is dust on the cap - I haven't had any issues with it. Brand is also important - Tamiya does very fine primers for example, however that is designed to go under an airbrushed surface

Amazing as always! You're one of the only really good tutorial channels I've found that does painting of fully assembled models, so I have to ask; how do you paint the details under the model's weapon? Most of my army is already assembled, and one of the big things holding me back from painting them is that I have no idea how to do the torsos with their weaponry in the way. (Aside from cutting the arms off, but I really don't want to do that...
@ThePaintingCoach
@ThePaintingCoach 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks - really it's about being careful - but one of the tips I would give is paint that area first then shade it, and leave it - that way you can be tidy on all the other areas - if you prime in a dark colour you could leave it dark as well - hope that helps!

@ThePaintingCoach
@ThePaintingCoach 4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for leaving a comment - I can't say I know why it's darker - two things pop to mind - 1. Is your primer coat darker and 2. Was the paint mixed well? Other than that I'm not too sure - sorry! 🤔
@tylercalzone9340
@tylercalzone9340 4 жыл бұрын
I actually used the mephiston red rattle can as my primer, I was worried about trying to cover black with lighter colors so I went that route. I also just tried putting a white over the red and then going back with the mephiston red regular base paint (not the rattle can) and it didn't really make a difference for me
@ThePaintingCoach
@ThePaintingCoach 4 жыл бұрын
That's interesting to hear...I can see the spraybprimer being slightly darker (I've got some on the way for the army so will keep this in mind) I would test this on a spare mini to see if you like it, and you can shift the tone a little by priming mephison, then cover that with evil sunz, edge highlights would be wild rider and fire dragon bright
