I know this video is 3 years old but it is so helpful! Just watching your technique through the entire application has made me realize a lot of my mistakes even unrelated to cuticle area! Perfect! And you should not be so self conscious! You are wonderful at explaining and honestly this is my favorite video I have ever watched on acrylic application! I started using acrylic when I was in middle school. I'm now a mom to 3 high school age children...just to give you an idea of my experience. I have never seen anything so quick and perfect! I also never leave comments but you deserve it! You are awesome!

I love the brush that you are using, I just started 1 year now, and I needed this , I'm very slow , when I do my prep work, and most of the time I always have lifting, most other videos I watch from other nails tech, they always, said to leave a small space between the cuticle and the nails, I recently saw a video of you rwork, and I watch it , and I can't stop, keep up the good work.

@helloiamem4 жыл бұрын
@@devotchkac8365 I'm a nail tech student in Australia and it actually has nothing to do with wanting you to come in more. The moment your acrylic touches the cuticle, you will have lifting. We are taught that the ability to get that super flush look is something that comes with time and experience but until you have that experience it's best to work further away from the cuticle. This is my biggest downfall, that I don't listen to my teachers. I should be leaving a gap to ensure clean cuticle work and no lifting/ridges but the pressure gets to me that people want flush nails and I touch the cuticle because I'm just not experienced enough to get it right every time. I'm getting better with it but I have a long way to go. The techs you're seeing are probably just inexperienced.

Is there a trick to getting the client to be able to place their hand so that you can get the nails to tilt down? Most of my clients hands are too stiff and doing acrylic on them is a nightmare. They dont give me the proper hand position to be able to tilt the nail downwards. I used to have a triangle wedge thingy that the client would out their hands/wrists on so it would give me better positioning, but I don't have it anymore. Maybe I should see if my clients chair goes up at all, would that help? I feel like a hopeless cause sometimes. Thanks for your video!

My weakness is the sidewalls. I'll put my acrylic down and it goes pretty well at the cuticle, but if their hands are ever so slightly tilted, the acrylic goes down into their sidewalls. I know that amounts to my acrylic being just a tad too wet, but I can't get it any dryer without it being too dry to move. I guess after almost 5 years of doing acrylic, I still can't get the liquid/powder ratio right. Sooo frustrating. I use a size 10 brush I think. Maybe that's too small to pick up larger beads of acrylic? Cause all i can get is smaller beads. But that doesn't really address the sidewall issue.
