A little secret if you don’t have gloves. Take some olive oil and rub it all over your hands your fingernails your fingertips and let it sit for a minute then wash your hands off with soap and water. The oil will destroys the capsaicin in the jalapeño that causes that burning sensation. Your hands won’t burn and neither will anything that you touch! I do it all the time it works amazingly well! 😉 We put out a garden this year and our only crop was jalapeños too! Thanks for the video! ♥️

Is there a certain wait time that needs to happen before they are opened?
@MulberryBranchFarm3 ай бұрын
@@christopherdodson323 I let my jars sit and cook for 24 hours before I move and store them. You can open them after they’re cool whenever you please. After you open them they should be refrigerated. They’re shelf stable at room temp only when sealed.

Ashley you did fantastic explaining this! You did good! The only thing is with these new Ball lids you don't have to do the boiling water to soften the sealant on them. Just wash them and rinse in warm tap water. Be sure to debubble them! And take your rings off after about 12 hours. Happy Thanksgiving!

I am new to canning…noticed you didn’t have a rack on the bottom of the pot. Any problems not using one?
@MulberryBranchFarm Жыл бұрын
I’ve only ever had one jar bust and it was only half full. I would recommend a rack for pressure canning but I’ve never had issues when water bath canning
@limeallens6160 Жыл бұрын
Put jalapenos into the jars and then add brine and totally skip the boiling process not needed. They will preserve that fresh look and taste wonderful
@MulberryBranchFarm Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the suggestion!
@limeallens6160 Жыл бұрын
@@MulberryBranchFarm one more thing you can also flip your jars upside down when you place them in boiling water allowing for a more shallow pot and less water. It’s really all about getting a good seal and not having to “cook” the contents in the jar. You won’t get this stuff on KZbin only herd info. Happy canning.

Can you just pour cold vinegar in jars and then process?

Please what should i do if i don't hear the pop?
@MulberryBranchFarm3 ай бұрын
If you don’t hear it you can always test the seal of the lid by removing the ring and picking the jar up only by the lid. If the lid is sealed you should pick up the entire jar. If it’s not the lid will easily come off. In which case I would refrigerate that jar and use it first
@CeCe-fh2ix3 ай бұрын
@@MulberryBranchFarm Thank you will try that. That is a great answer.

Is the sugar really necessary
@MulberryBranchFarm Жыл бұрын
I would assume that there are other recipes out there that exclude sugar but I really enjoy this recipe so I stick with adding the sugar though I’m sure other recipes exclude it. A quick google search would probably provide you with a multitude of sugarless recipes

Great job! While you were cutting the peppers I’m over here yelling at the video telling you to put your gloves on. Ha! Hopefully you didn’t touch anything like your face before thoroughly washing your hands. Not that that’s ever happened to me. Lol Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Umm... the jalapeños might not get mushy if you didn't cook them in the brine before canning.
@MulberryBranchFarm Жыл бұрын
Only if over blanched. Most canning recipes I’ve used for veggies require blanching prior to canning. Blanching is often utilized to help destroy bacteria or anything that might create spoilage and lessen the shelf life of whatever it is you are preserving

Also dont touch your eyes while handling peppers! I made that mistake once😢
