I have lived an hour south of Santa Barbara most of my life. Your family showed more of Santa Barbara in a 15 min vlog then I've seen in many many visits there. Sometimes you don't know what's in your backyard until somebody else comes over and shows you. I have taken the family for years to Pismo Beach always camping on the beach in the sand with sand toys. thank you for sharing and I loved the piece on San Luis Obispo Thursday Farmers Market. keep up the good work and enjoy.

I love that you mentioned Pinterest. I always use it to plan my visits. Neat story: a German friend was showing me around Hannover and I noticed that he kept taking me to places I wanted to see. When I said something about that, he smiled and said, "Yes, I stalked your Pinterest board." 😀❤️

We use Road trippers for the fun things along the way (think Clark Griswold and the worlds largest ball of mud) and the All Stays app. We also use yelp and trip advisor to read reviews of campgrounds. In addition for anyone who is active, reserve, national guard or retired military All Stays has an app that will just show you military recreational sites.

Joined Harvesthosts and have already made four or five reservations/contacts! Price was almost double to join than what you said in the video, but still going to be well worth the experience. Only place that could not take us was a location an hour or so from our home in Johnson City, TN. We mentioned KYD when asked how we heard about them. Actually, we already knew about harvest hosts, but you folks really prompted us to join for our July and August adventure! Thanks!!!!

What about Campendium? Great for photos and real life reviews! Also lists Wi-Fi and cell strength! I use Allstays and Campendium together before I choose any place to camp! I use Roadtrippers for route planning... you can pick your nightly destinations and it will tell you how many miles between so you can plan your driving days. Then you can plug in sites along your route for daytripping!

A Rand-McNally RVND (GPS) gives me loads of information that is very useful while I'm navigating my 30' Class A with toad, including warning me away from problems like low clearances and unsafe RR Xings, and will warn me of sharp curves ahead, speed limit changes, and much more. Since I am solo, having the extra help is wonderful, but I don't blindly rely on it ... just as one should never rely blindly on any technology in a dynamically changing environment.

Does your current trip bring you anywhere close to Alberta? The Calgary Stampede runs the first part of July. If the kids are into dinosaurs there is The Royal Tyrell Museum of Paleontology in Drumheller. There are great exhibits and the family can participate in a fossil dig. There are also several coulees and canyons around the area that are great for hiking and possibly biking. Depending on how you travel to the museum, there is Horseshoe Canyon on Highway 9, The Atlas Coal Mine in Rosedale and many other attractions in the area. Love all the information you provide, and for the time being I get to live vicariously through your videos. Happy Trails and hope one day to meet with you when you are in the area.

Great stuff - thank you! A couple I have not heard of before. The other app and website you did not mention was RVParkReviews. Great site for finding RV parks in an area, their amenities, rates, but most importantly to me reviews. Great resource and reviews specific to the park and from our fellow travelers.

Waze is another cool one I loved and used for the same reason google maps is helpful. It has comments from people like "left lane blockage get in right lane" and it allows you to put helpful info too so something fun to do for the copilot :) Can I also inquire how you guys make sure you aren't too tall for over passes/bridges etc? I only ask because I happened to be going under a tunnel on my way to Las Vegas and it was capped at 10', but nowhere on the road the 20 miles prior did it mention that. I was in a car but I kinda wondered what people in semi's or rvs do about keeping to the roads that have ample height space.

We are starting out in two weeks. We were concerned about the low places. We picked up the MOTOR CARRIERS 2018 ROAD ATLAS. This is where the big guys go. Every state is in there and the highways are marked in orange. This is a big Atlas. Around 11 inches by 15 inches. It's 1/2 inch thick. Just for fun, look at Texas. It looks like a can of worms. You could go about anywhere. Hope this helps.

Really enjoy watching your videos and adventures. I have a question that might fit in with this one and that is, how do you find your fuel stops. I know through our trips that finding a gas station that we can fit in with a 30 foot trailer can be difficult sometimes. Do you have any tips or tricks that you use?
@KeepYourDaydream7 жыл бұрын
Many people have mentioned gas buddy. Our drive days are not that long. We rarely get gas more than once per week and only a hand full of times more than once on the same day. So it hasn't been hard for us, but that gas buddy might help. We use Google Maps and "add a stop" when we need gas. It brings up all the stations on our route so we don't have to go out of our way.

We have watched all of your videos and love them. How do I sign up for the give always? We now want to get an Rpod and travel with it. I wish we could do that full time. Your family looks like they really joy it.

Hey there Kim. There are lots of Insiders that are part-time and planning more travel. I've seen those Rpod and really like them! Here is the link to watch the video and see how it works. :) We're having fun getting to know people and sharing a little more. www.patreon.com/KeepYourDaydream

Years ago I used Delorme Street Atlas GPS. A tremendous feature was the ability to enter your preferred milage and/or time limit for the day. It allowed you to divide a long trip up into 300 mile legs, or 5 hour legs, etc. Is there an online site or program that does that? Planning a 4000 mile trip next year and would like to have a planner that automates some choices for daily destinations. Thanks!

AllStays is great for iOS. We found that RoadTrippers is good and works well on both iOS and Android.

Love the same apps! Good review. You might also look at Trover that is similar to Instagram but will show photos near you or a specified locale.

I would love to see that first ever "flat tire" video. The first video with you guys I saw was the one that you guys went to the Silos and I'm like a bit obsessed with thoughts of going there someday haha. Anyway I did subscribe now because you are doing what I've always dreamed of doing, Only not sure if you guys actually live in yours all the time but that would be my dream if I ever get one.

We've been in our rig for 2 years in May. That video is easy to find. It's on our YT homepage. Audio is loud!

I am literally hooked and have you own the big screen. You may actually replace HGTV as my "crack".

So our GPS in our Truck and on our phone works fine but we need something to help us locate routes that are RV safe and find Gas Stations that are RV friendly. With a 46' ft fifth wheel, we must go in one way and exit the same way without having to turn around. Plus we want a place to stop to let out our dogs. We find truck stops normally get this done.

GasBuddy is a good app to have ... in the long run it could save you a lot of money on gas ...And ... you guys are awesome. We live just outside Vancouver BC and are planning to visit all the major ballparks in the US. Should be a cool trip ...

I WON?? I see a nice cold drink going in that koozie in the future and that sticker? It will go on our trailer. THANK YOU for picking out my name and I may or may not (okay I did) call my husband and let him hear you saying our nicknames. =) Welcome to the dork show with us. I am envious in a happy way for everyone at the meet up and know one day we will be at one. I need to quit being a slacker and only following on youtube and IG and become a pateron. I just want a ginger AND to see some deleted videos. Okay enough ramble...thank you again, I will email you my address and this video is another helpful one. I never thought of Pintrest as a route planner but super helpful on remodeling an rv for our trip so far.
