wow your kale is giant. could you please make video about berries??? i try to growing berries in tropical area{bali} i living 3km from the beach, all my berries about 1 year but did't make any fruits yet. i still confiuse if in hot climate suppose to stay in partial shade or direct to the sun? keep make more video sir cause your video is good
@iCultivate15 жыл бұрын
Berries can be difficult in hot climates. Many require a chill period in order to produce fruit. Make sure that the variety you are growing is suitable to your climate.

Thank you for the video. I’m living in the Brisbane. My kale got flower is that normal ? And also kale will get taller and taller like yours ?
@iCultivate15 жыл бұрын
It is normal, particularly in the warmer than normal winters we have been having. With regard to the height, the kale in this video is the Black Russian variety, and as long as you use the leaves from the bottom, and don’t pick them from the top, they will grow quite tall. Hope this is helpful😄

@@iCultivate1 the seeds come from the flowers(gone 2 seed). They change the taste 2 bitter when they seed. Gather the dried flowers later 4 ur seeds. .I think... Marsha.

Nice video, my kale is not bushy , those become skinny and leggy ( lengthy) , plz suggest something, Thanks,

Nitrogen can promote good leafy growth. Try sprinkling a bit of chicken manure around - that might help to solve this problem 😀🥬

I am growing "Dwarf Blue Curled Vates" kale, but they have not been growing very well. they seem stunted for the length of time they have been in the ground. what could be some of the reasons for such slow growth and what can I do about it?
@iCultivate15 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your question. Kale is a brassica and all brassicas need full sun. So my first question would be, are they growing in full sun? Also, what is your location? Are you in the norther or Southern Hemisphere. It would be normal to plant brassicas just as things start to warm up a bit - so could it be that they just haven’t had enough warmth yet? Lastly, all brassica are heavy nitrogen feeders. Therefore, a good nitrogen feed might help - bit of well aged chicken manure. Hope this is useful 😄

@@iCultivate1 I live in southeast GA in the US. they are planted in full sun, and we are up into the 80s so far. i will try to add some compost to the soil and see if that makes a difference. the other two areas mentioned are good. thanks for the suggestion.

It's my 1st time planting kale. I put a whole pack of a few seeds n a big pot. I want it 2 eat, yes, but I want it to grow n different directions n b an attractive potted plant 2 for decoration. Can't u pinch out the tops like some other plants n make their stems double? ... ... How do u make baby plants hang off it?.... Marsha.
@iCultivate13 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately kale won’t tend to sprout in different directions or bush up if you pinch out the top. Sorry 😢

Kale is planted to harvest the leaves ball as cabbage,is funny to see it grows like bush and to harvest leaves in many times!
@iCultivate15 жыл бұрын
Never seen kale harvested as a ball either in Australia or Europe - only as leaves. Where are you from?
Now ,I know the difference of the two different species of kale,in google image search simply input "Kale",the result is the meaning of your kale,what I mean needs input "colorful kale",the difference is the production and importance in cultivation,the similarly is both of them is bunch of nutrient can be used making salad ,but both of them not so tasty!
@iCultivate15 жыл бұрын
Yes, now I understand. The type of kale you are referring to is what we normally call “ornamental kale” and is not usually grown to eat here.

Where did you get those deterrents for the white cabbage moth? They are terrible pest here!!
@iCultivate17 жыл бұрын
Do you mean the plastic white moths? I made these, by simply cutting them out of a piece of plastic from an old container. Hope this is helpful.
@JoshuaCromerTodd7 жыл бұрын
Thank you - Those things are a pain in the ass when they end up laying all of those larvae that turn to the green cabbage worms. I had pretty good success with a trick using plastic cups and mothballs.

i put my kale sprouts in direct sunlight, and they died, they were doing great when they were indoors. im sad. I didnt get a chance to transplant them in the ground soil
@iCultivate13 жыл бұрын
I am sad to hear that. If you can’t transplant them within a day or so, you do need to ensure that they are kept moist.

I have seen them in local nurseries in my location (Australia). Depending on where you are from, you may also be able to do the same, alternatively they can be purchased online from specialist organic seed suppliers. Hope this helps 😄
