This is how I soak and then plant my Anemone corms to rehydrate them after their storage period.
I soak the Anemones for up to 24 hours, but it’s so important to keep checking that they are not going soft. Once they have been rehydrated, I plant them into 15 cell trays or 9cm pots. They are then kept in my storeroom and placed under lights as soon as I see any signs of shoots emerging. Later in the season, once they have been hardened off, I will plant these in larger garden pots for cutting or in the garden beds to enjoy.
I hope this has been useful and interesting but do let me know if you have any questions. I will post a video when I pot these up and plant them out in the garden once the danger of frost has passed, so do subscribe to this channel so that you don’t miss the video.
It’s difficult to know how to express myself on social media when there is so much sorrow and devastation in the world we live in, particularly in Ukraine. My thoughts and prayers are with the people of Ukraine.

@@cottoverdi Gorgeous. I love cats but my hubster is not so much a fan. I would have dearly loved a ragdoll when we lost our rescue lurcher, but I ended up ith 2 golden retriever puppies instead!

Ha ha! I love the way we gardeners can’t do anything without an animal wanting to be involved.

I soaked mine overnight but 3 weeks later no joy as yet.i watered them regularly but someone told me they can take 1 to 4 weeks to show?

Hi Stephen, I think soaking them overnight was probably far too long - if they go at all soft, then they will just rot and turn to mush. When soaking them, try for just 3-4 hours - that should be sufficient to get them started. Do try again with new corms. And, yes, they will take a few weeks for new foliage to appear. 😊🌸

@@cottoverdi I asked the seller and they said don’t worry they can take 2-3 months to show but I think they are mush.something is definitely digging at the soil even though all the pots are on a table in the garden.still nothing so will try again.thanks

Yes, the squirrels and field mice love them so if you don't have protection over them then you've laid out a buffet! I keep mine protected until they are big enough that the creatures won't be interested. And they really shouldn't take months to start growing - I've never found that. A matter of weeks. Do try again. Good luck.

I'm so confused with these flowers ! Last year I put 5 in the ground in November - because that's what they say ! This spring only 1 showed up , only leaves ! Now in October it showed up again - only leaves ! What's going on ...? I have 20 new ones now. Can I sprout them in January and plant them in the garden under a hoop ? I'm zone 6-7.

Hi Maya, Did you protect them over the winter from mice and squirrels? The bulbs are like caviar to them so they will hunt them out and take them away. The other danger with planting them out over the winter is that if they get too wet, they will turn to mush and then disintegrate so that you will wonder where they have disappeared to! (Both these scenarios have happened to me in the past 😕). You can definitely plant them in the spring - you will get flowers a little later but you may well have a better success rate. These anemones flower in the spring, Japanese anemones (much taller and different corn/bulb structure) are the ones that flower late summer/autumn. Good luck.
