Hi VIV, thank you for this- at least you notice. With the new software I am able to do some better editing. The goal is to make it as easy as possible for people learning... that's it... Also too, so many people go at this without the sheet music. So I think having that posted makes it more convenient as well, and we get to play together. Thanks VIV, always value your input!!!!

@@AcousticGuitarVideosLessons I think I pretty much have the "intermediate" Hillbilly Serenade mastered -- but it still sounds a bit different from when you play it. Do I just need to work on a faster speed? Or are you also doing a little different timing in the version where you had us pick our favorite from the 4 songs? As always - thanks for your help!
@AcousticGuitarVideosLessons4 жыл бұрын
@@pamc7094 Hey Pam. very happy to hear that you got this song down!! Way to go!!!! So believe it or not, you are the 3rd person to notice something a little different about the song when sped up and, yes... you are correct. When I play at a faster speed I am naturally adding (and without thinking) Swing to the notes. Now if I want to explain this, it's gonna be a whole chapter written here. I don't know if you were in the group when I taught John Prine's Paradise song? I went into detail about swinging notes in that lesson. If you can e mail me at acousticguitarvideos@gmail.com, I will send you that lesson (it's private for the group only). I'm convinced you can do it simply because you noticed it and that's not so easy to do (I am very proud of you !!!)... Okay, I'll wait to hear from you Pam!!! bob

Hi Bob, although I can now play this beautiful song reasonably well ??? which always feels like you've given me another gift to cherish ...I love to listen to every additional video you make , as I always learn something new and different, about how to play. I wasn't sure how to say how fantastic the way you are showing what is happening, as the song progresses...and then I read Yandeni's comments... and she said what I was thinking so well....you are so thoughtful and inspiring Bob.....a unique and special person .

Hey Sue, Hoping all is well with you guys- I am good and working around the house this week as it's a mess and needs clean up! Each time I make a video, I have to have an "angle" and reason someone would show up and watch it, so titles have to be researched, thumbnail to try to get people to click on- just a lot of thinking involved. Main goal is to get KZbin to recommend the video and to rank high on the search engines with good keywords. So this one I was especially proud of and tried some new things yet again. But with all that work, I have a negative 5 people that unsubscribed to the channel... so when I hear from you and others liking it, I don't feel so bad. Bottom line is I just will do what's best in my opinion and not worry so much about the outcome (other than the main goal which is getting people to play the song!!! THanks for the uplift and chat soon!!

This is such a pretty song. The way you teach is phenomenal. Once I get up to speed this song will make me sound like an old pro! I can't thank you enough. 2 questions please...why does the music show 2/4 time when it's really 4/4 and why don't you use repeat signs? I like my music printed and this is 5 sheets long. Thanks Bob. Take care!
@AcousticGuitarVideosLessons3 жыл бұрын
HI Becky, thank you so much for all the kind words and really glad you are enjoying this song! So,,, that 2/4 time signature.. UGH!!!!!! and DOUBLE UGH!!!!!! It is 4/4 !!!! as you say. Do me a favor... Take a pen and change that 2 to a 4......!! I can't even begin to guess many hours and days, weeks, months I have festered over the sheet music, trying to get what's 4/4 to print out on my Tux Guitar program that has 8 Quarter beats nots per measure with 4 downbeats! Because of my weakness in reading music, I only can trust my ears so, I have to start by making a midi file from my keyboard and transfer it to Tux guitar. When imported, it creates these giant measures (16 beats and 8 downbeats).. No matter what I do, it will always make the measures these size. It has even made me question my music sanity! I tried inside of Tux guitar to split up the measures but I have given up- tried importing at 2/4 thinking many then it would read out a real 4/4... no... no.... no.... I ultimately would love if someone did the sheet music for me (for free of course- LOL)... Thanks again Becky, sorry to dump my "Sheet Music Saga " on you!!! . Have a great guitar day!! bob

@@AcousticGuitarVideosLessons I really appreciate your reply, Bob! You know what the problem with us non KZbinrs is? Truly! Thanks for everything you do and for being so responsive to all your students. Take care 😊

Thank you @@beckyh.1014 . I am one a note reading failure from way back and to this day, I struggle. I didn't learn to read tab until I had to teach here on KZbin so, I'm no expert on any of that stuff (my chicken scratch would be exactly a chicken scratch ha ha).. But anytime you come across a difficult passage, I'm definitely going to be able to help with what to do in order to play it good. I can't say enough about playing small sections (maybe a measure or two) in a loop at very slow tempos. This is where the learning happens... to memorize the song so you don't have to look at the sheet music and can concentrate on performing it well. Thanks again and wishing you all the best! Looking forward to hearing from you any time! bob

Hi bob... Nice lesson! Any Tips on getting used to playing with a thumbpick after having played basically with just flesh for the past year? I've ordered a pair from amazon, should come next week! Also, what should i expect when going DOWN a guage in strings? (I know this sounds weird, but a few months back i strung my acoustic with 11s. I find it has affected the playability a bit and now it is a bit of a struggle to play barred chords.) As always, thanks for your help and Sláinte! (Cheers in Irish) Happy pickin once again (i do never get tired of that joke :)
@AcousticGuitarVideosLessons4 жыл бұрын
Hey Varun, yes, happy pickin' !! With the thumbpick for me it's just a matter of doing it a lot. I seem to have better control with just the fingers but when I do put one on and play for a while, going back to just fingers seems weird! Always something new on the guitar to get used to!! Going down a gauge, expect easier playing but not as good of guitar tone. Some guitars like my Martin like medium gauge strings, and when you put it down to light gauge, it sounds terrible. On my other guitar, mediums sound awful (only likes light gauge). So a lot does depend on your guitar. If you want really easy playing, try the extra lights!! But the tone is not so good- but Barr chords- wow, so easy. Like playing an electric guitar.. Cheers in Irish to you too and (got to say this next part) happy pickin' !! ha ha.... thanks again- always so good to hear from you!!

This is where I'm at kzbin.info/www/bejne/rGHZY5qNeZ56es0 - I find your videos so super helpful. Thanks Bob!

Hey Toronto, great to hear from you and glad you are back on your guitar. I commented over at your site too (you're on it man!). Hey Mr.Diego... I do this all the time with the pick. Hold the pick with thumb and index and use the middle and ring finger for the additional notes (instead of index and middle).
