And also another tip, check his foot while he is hitting. His right foot steps on ground at same time racket touches the shuttle. Dont put your right foot too early. That will help you to generate power as well

Not the same time.... He uses his foot to make the swing faster... His arm swing and his foot was the one that works the same tie

@@amakusa2008 .... right when you step it can help you generate more power.. youll notice that if you watch people like taufik or other backhand monsters

@@amakusa2008 it only "Helps".. but.. the real source of the power is when you put your elbows up its where the swing really is.. waist twist and foot stump only helps it generate more power

The sounds are half the fun in badminton for me. It just sounds so satisfying to hit the shuttle exactly right, and your backhand smash has a really unique sound, more akin to a sliced cross drop. Its beautiful.

@@Tagamm Well, that was an ancient comment hahaha but yeah I used to really try hard to swing my arm , attempting to generate as much power as I could. In fact , I should have grasp the grip tightly whenever I come in contact with the shuttle so that my power would be more concentrated in that shot .

Thanks Viktor! I usually struggle quite a bit with my backhand. Recent sessions with my coach have improved that and this video confirms everything they try to train us to do. Extra tip for people that never really use backhand and want to get used to it fast: Put the blade of your racket at the cavity of your other arm, and then lift your elbow (max height = shoulder). This little trick helped me get it right much faster.
