Finally - one of the few occasions where a panhandle is actually correct! 😁 This must (should?) be one of the most requested tutorials after 'hOw CaNz i MaKe mY sMaSh mOrE hArDeR?!' 😉 Very well explained, I particularly like the fact you included the tip about not getting too close to the shuttle - that's really important to enable the correct arm action...although people have to be careful not to fall into the trap once known as 'the Danish swipe' i.e. the racquet still needs to come through on the vertical plane, not the horizontal! (correct positioning also means you're not dragged as far away from the centre of the court) Maybe a mini tutorial about generating backhand "whip" would be helpful for some people?
@BadmintonInsight4 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much! 😆 It was pretty highly requested yes! Yeah we've had a couple of people ask about the whip, here's what we've said: Generating 'whip' is essentially increasing the speed of your racket swing just before you make contact with the shuttle. You can do this by using the back of your shoulder more and squeezing your fingers to create more power in your swing and also using more forearm rotation as you strike the shuttle.
@fijtips1124 жыл бұрын
@@BadmintonInsight in Ye Olden Days some coaches were known to ask players to practise the whipping action using a towel!
@Syega2 жыл бұрын
@@BadmintonInsight While I generally find your explanations detailed and helpful (and thank you for them :) ), this is one where I just have no idea how it should play out. Namely, how the squeezing action should go exactly. First, my basic instinct leads me to do it similar to a forehand, driving the racket backwards in this instance. Getting over that is quite simple, but trying to make it go forwards results in a ridiculous "flopping" action, with nearly no power. Simply the distance between my palm and the handle when I fully relax the grip is just too small, with my fingers wrapped around it. I also feel a "drag" on my fingers that is not present with other grips/squeezes, like the direction or the pivot point is off. I tried to slow down the video to catch some detail, but to no avail. Maybe it is due to some simple rookie mistake, as I was never shown this grip by my coach. Could you be so kind as to give me some pointers? Thank you in advance and keep up the good work!

are you allowed to step on the lines? during the late backhand, or a smash? I've been training badminton for 9 months now, and most times I make a lot of mistakes with my hits, especially when it comes to proper foot work, I'm still learning my proper grip, and improving a lot better ever since I've discovered your channel.
