Awesome 👍! I'm an arthritis sufferer and was in great hope that "finger picking" might improve my condition. This has proven to be a journey in futility, but watching and listening to your music is both relaxing and inspiring. Thank you for sharing and although I haven't seen progress or hope of progress on the part of my arthritis, I enjoy your demos.

Thank you. Have you talked with your doctor about playing? It could be that playing could help your arthritis. Maybe strumming would be better for you?

@@JamieAndersonMusic I have actually, he was the one who suggested that I try the guitar as a path towards greater dexterity. A lot of complications that I have are due to a severe compression of my neck which left me a total quadraplegic in the 1980s. A lot of rehab, several major operations, and some God given determination put me in recovery and I fared pretty well until the last few years when arthritis began slowly depleting me of my mobility and giving me pain. But I don't quit or give up easily and I will keep at it. Thanks for your reply and keep those videos coming. I still enjoy them.

@@waynegilchrist1596 Glad you enjoy them. Your health issues sound overwhelming but you still have a good attitude. Have you considered the ukulele? It doesn't take as much strength to play as a guitar. I have uke lessons on my channel too.
@waynegilchrist15964 жыл бұрын
@@JamieAndersonMusic no offense but I literally loathe ukes. I am quite the harp man. I have played the harmonica at least 60 of my 70 years. I'm a fair guitar Strummer when I feel fair but I have long admired finger picking which takes more dexterity than I am able to render. But thanks for your concern and replies. All is well.

Hi Jamie! I’ve been practicing the fingerpicking versions of Amazing Grace and Silent Night. Is it okay to only press down on the G and B strings when fingerpicking the A chord? Since you’re only picking the base string A and the G,B,E strings it seems fretting the D string of the A chord would be unnecessary. Just easier and more accurate for me as I have larger hands. When I strum an A chord I do it in the normal manner but fingerpicked it’s much more evident if I accidentally mute one of the strings. Your thoughts?
@JamieAndersonMusic4 жыл бұрын
It's best to play the whole chord. Even if you aren't plucking it it will resonate with the strings.
@PMCraig4 жыл бұрын

I haven't posted many ukulele videos because they aren't as popular as the guitar ones. But this can be adapted to the ukulele. Use the same chords, it's just different chord forms, and the same picking pattern will work. Numbering the strings from bottom to top the pattern is 432123.
