Thanks for bringing Dennis Dunaway to our attention. I have loved the 'Alice Cooper Band' for 50 (!?) years now. Since I was 10 years old in 1972. Then we knew it was a band....not a solo artist. I really like the 'Pritties for you' and 'Easy Action' albums too. 1969 and 1970 respectively. Dennis Dunaway was an innovative bassist who is often forgotten.

The creativity and variety of the original A.C. band was exceptional. The songs were great. The sounds, the originality, the combination of old and new styles, the wild lyrical themes, all enthralled me as a kid. The band had some weaknesses, but those records are fascinating and, . . . so well done. It's a shame they could not have made a few more together! Neal Smith turned me from listener, to drummer. I jammed with Dennis all the time in my parent's house. Those bass parts were so musical and so catchy. Thanks to the original band for endless hours of joy, and to my Mom for letting me shake the house!

Buxton inspired me to take up the guitar back in the 70s. Several decades later, I got a bass just to see what it was like and Dunaway's technique was amazing. The countermelodies and tone were spot-on. Even live you could get what he was doing, so many bassists have a mushy tone.

I learned so much about bass, and music theory in particular, from trying to learn Dennis Dunaway’s bass parts. Those 4 albums with that band are just a great collection, practically a dictionary of great bass lines.

Growing up and listening to the original band while they made those early albums is a fond memory. Dennis never used his pinky for fretting and still doesn't to this very day. He was always all over that fret board.

Great to see one of my all time favourite bassists getting some long overdue recognition. He and Neal Smith combined to produce many highlights on the original Cooper band albums, and for my money, Alice has never found a rhythm section to match them, particularly in his live shows. One notable exception, drummer wise, is the incredible Glen Sobel who currently occupies the stool behind the kit, but no bass players spring to mind.

This is an awesome video...i am a guitar player...so i never got into what the bass player was playing...but always knew Dennis played some cool bass lines...I was devastated when the original Alice Cooper group broke up... not even interested in any solo Alice...i bought "Welcome to my nightmare" and pretended it was the original guys playing on it ...i turned into a little psycho for awhile... But i never bought anything from Alice again... got "Lace and whiskey" for a Christmas present and got rid of it... I remember my mom singing to "You and me'' in the kitchen once...i was horrified...

there is alice cooper, and there is the alice cooper band, its a shame that one of the best bands of the early 70s ( and one of the most influential ) is obscure by the 80s alice cooper success and the horror gimmick.

Love this comment. I was just explaining to a friend the other day about the Alice Cooper band and it's original members versus the later Alice Cooper. Such a major difference. And as my friend is a bass player I thought it pertinent to introduce him to Jeff Dunaway's magnificence.

The DOORS bass lines you should look into because they hired a real bass player and Ray M would write the bass lines. People are Stranger album, Soft Parade album, Waiting for the Sun, etc Often the Bass riff is a Groove rhythm that is completely different than the guitar part and keyboard parts rhythm the bass is a groove rhythm looping
