There's a lot of counter-intuitive concepts to grasp here, but you do a great job of explaining. I had to go back and watch the video a few times. Movement adds a huge level of complexity to the "timeline/stack" mechanics of the game. I am going to have to study this in depth, I don't want to feel lost when confronted with this in the middle of a game.

Indeed, movement really adds a huge layer of complexity and interactions that even the most experienced can get caught up on all the stuff happening on the board. Go step by step and you will eventually grasp it!

Yes, indeed. It is typically the root of all confusions as Sorcery does add a layer of complexity.

Would you be kind enough to do a card tech on some of the more confusing cards in sorcery? More specific how Megamoeba plays, it’s ability and how other spells, attack, etc… effect it. Any help would be appreciated! Thank you for your contribution to the game and community!

Hey there, rly nice video! Im an MTG-Player for years, but struggle with some stuff, i cant find in the rulebook. Maybe you would answer my questions? Submerge ability 1 - does it always need 1 step to go to the surface/subsurface of the same side? or can you go to the surface of an adjacent watersite? for example to block there? 2 - if you flood an enemy side permanently, can you hit that land from the subsurface? - it feels realy broken to me, because no spells or minions can hit it, and with the deluvian kraken u can just hit the enemy to deaths door from the subsurface and then surface and strike him to win - like he can do nearly nothing again that? 3 - so - would it be possible to cast a minion submerged, flood an enemy side adjacent to the minion and attack the enemy side from underwater next turn? 4 - is it possible to flood an enemy side with your submerge minion on top (with no summoning sickness) and submerge and hit the enemy land in one step? or do u have to submerge first and attack at the next turn? airborne 5 - i think its possible to block airborne units, if they are attacking a side or minion and you also can tap a adjacent minion (without airborne) to join the fight via the block ability Deaths door 6 - If both avatars are on deaths door and the enemy avatar wants to attack my avatar - does he loose the game because of the stack? (his attack goes first on the stack, then my attack, so my damage resolves first? because the rulebook says different (each unit strike simultaneously) or would it be a draw? Immune 7 - if a minion with 6 power is immune to non leathal damage - and i block with 2 minions, each has 3 power - will it die? floodplain + maelstrom in game 8 - floodplain says "once on your turn" - can u do it before the maelstrom resolves? like at the end of your untap step to drain something from the flooded side? Can u realy drain as many minions as u want to drain (own minions and enemy minions in every direction u want)? 9 - and if creatures are in a corner, nearby the maelstrom, not adjancent to it can u drain them one side down or to the left/right? Because im not sure if its "closer" to the maelstrom, because its always just 1 grid or can u only drain a airborne unit in this case? maelstrom "this body of water" 10 - i think mealstrom means itself? so u can only drain creatures to the location of mealstrom? I think "to this waterside" would be a better wording, because "this body of water" could mean all watersides that are connected 11 - Is it possible to flood lands, which already are flooded? For example with the waveshaper ability to tap creatures there? / And is it possible to submerge a submerged minion? 12 - If you flood a enemy side, does it counts to your body of water? Or only your own lands? I think it only counts as "this body of water", but not "your body of water" 13 - mariners curse - If u use the maelstrom ability to drain more then 1 minion to a side thats cursed with mariners curse - does all creatures die? If i think about the stack that you explained, and i control maelstrom and mariners curse, does it work like this? - The movement from the creatures go on the stack like i want to - then resolves - if the first creature hits a side effected by mariners curse it goes on the stack on top, so it dies and mariners curse goes back to my hand, then each other unit will move, correct? Or does maelstrom drains all of the creatures at the same time and therefore all of them dies? 14 - mariners curse - does it trigger and goes back to my hand if i cast a minion submerged? I think so, because its a water side and a minion entered it, regardless of whether submerged or not 15 - Geomancer - does the replace-effect counts as "play a side"? And if it does, can i fill an adjancet void with a ruble? I dont think so, because the replace effekt is part of his first tap-ability 16 - Rubbles - does a rubble, i put into play with geomancers ability, produce 1 mana the turn it enters? i know its not providing any mana the next turns, and does it counts to my body of land? 17 - Projectiles - can i shoot it at the same side where the caster stands? Does it triggers "on its path"? I thought projectiles always hits the first target on there path, but there is a spell who does 2 damage to each minion on its "path" - i dont know how this works, does it means, if there are more creatures on the same side they all take 2 damage? Or is that a special projectile, where u can target an enemy far away and all creatures on its path taking damage? 18 - Instant speed - Can u tap your avatar/creatures in response? Or is there no "instant speed" in this game? Big thanks in advance and keep going!

Hi Haine, what would happen if the shark in the last ex. has an alternative 'safe' path to travel? Can the NAP choose the path around the pit?
@wizardsden666
@wizardsden666 Жыл бұрын
yes! It can take a detour and bite the bats for that case!

@rogerbodee

Per the FAQs the path must be the shortest past to the target. Q: What path can the Shark take? The controller of the Shark specifies a path for the Shark that is the fewest possible steps to the other unit. If there are multiple equally short paths, the controller chooses.

So, the non-active player's bottomless pit effect resolved before the Mariner's Curse because it was placed on top of the timeline, and then the Mariner's curse effect of submerging the shark fizzled, because it was triggered at the same time right? But it still returned to owner's hand. What would happen if the bottomless pit was owned by the active player as well as the mariner's curse? Does the active player choose which effect goes on top of the timeline?
@wizardsden666
@wizardsden666 Жыл бұрын
In that case the active player orders the pit and the curse effect in the order he likes. So there is two different resolutions in that case. You can review that on the Rule#3 example so check it out!

What happens if the Bottomless Pit was not there and the Shark was Submerged instead? Would it just add another step of movement to the timeline to surface and continue moving toward the bats?
@wizardsden666
@wizardsden666 10 ай бұрын
Yes, that would be correct! The bats will be fought at the location where it first stepped in the water.
@Moldyvort
@Moldyvort 10 ай бұрын
I asked the question on the discord and the answer was that the shark would not be able to fight the bats because the shark wouldn't have any more movement left to surface after getting to the bat's site@@wizardsden666

The explanation is clear, however it stretches a bit the idea of LIFO imo. When the sequence of elements is added in reverted formation like (bottom strike, top dragging mvmt) it shows to me that part is actually FIFO atyle that you add reverted to force in a LIFO stack. But the important thing is that the game can be played and that is achieved by this explanation thanks! 👍
@wizardsden666
@wizardsden666 Жыл бұрын
You resolve from the last one so its LIFO!
@DanieleMazzoni
@DanieleMazzoni Жыл бұрын
What I mean is that if the action is "drag and strike", if each element is separate in the stack, the first to enter the stack would be drag, then strike. But drag is also first to resolve. So these elements you create from the movement plus action are actually resolved FIFO.

@@DanieleMazzonithat’s what I was thinking when he was talking. I haven’t played yet,waiting for my precons, but in your example I agree FIFO makes more sense and makes me question the whole video honestly. I haven’t played the game yet so I’m assuming/hoping most effects will be able to be resolved with common sense /as they’re happening.
