I’m not sure if someone has told you, but from just looking at the two different applicators, you are getting different results not because of the shape. If you have ever done correction on paint or fiber glass then you know the the pad. A foam pad(the ball) is meant for applying and polish. The cone is more like a wool pad which is going to give you more of a cutting ability. This is why the cone is working faster and better. It is taking your compound and cutting into the surface. The ball is foam which is only going to apply and polish.

Thanks for this video. I wasn’t sure what I was going to do with these 2011, 28 spoke wheels. I went to Harbor Freight, then got the White Diamond and after about six hours the wheels look amazing. I had been thinking of replacing them. Not now. Thanks again for the help.

I have a 2009 Softail Custom fxstc. If your familiar with this model it has a wide slotted aluminium wheel on the back. That the previous owner neglected cleaning while it was in his care. I followed your cleaning method except first I raised the wheel off the floor with a motorcycle scissors jack so I can spin the wheel. Then went over the wheel with green Scotch Brite and Meguiar's aluminium cleaner. Then continued on with white diamond and buffing ball. All I can say is I was amazed! I forgot how nice and pretty aluminium looks when it's clean and shinny. Shines like chrome! Thanks Guys

Just went and bought some of this White Diamond... I bought a 2007 Electra Glide, used, and I don’t know if it had EVER had the wheels cleaned by the previous owner. I spent 30 minutes and was able to half-ass clean about 6 inches of the wheel. I was doing it by hand, with a rag. I think the trick is the buffing wheel, not the White Diamond. I think mayonnaise would work better with that buffing wheel than the WD. Going tomorrow to buy that buffing wheel. Thanks for the video!!!

White Diamond has micro abrasion and it cuts into the metal while polishing. If you put some between your thumb and four finger and move them back and forth you can feel the cutting action. That how it works, great stuff!

I just bought a 2009 ultra. I want to take the tour pack off and the trim around the saddle bags and the trim around the front and rear fender. I see your bike has no saddle bag guards, did y’all make a video on that? And will you be doing any of the stuff i just mentioned?
@2MostlyBaldGuysKC
@2MostlyBaldGuysKC 5 жыл бұрын
The guards we didn't make a video but they are just allen bolts and come right off. As far as the trim goes there is holes there so you would have to go to body shop or get new fenders

hey guys after all the buffing get clean micro fiber cloth and put some baby powder on it to rub off rest of polish.all aluminum polish is petroleum based that powder will absorb it and bring it to an almost mirror finish.used to do that on my 18 wheeler.so 2 rims should be piece of cake
@rahoffman123
@rahoffman123 Жыл бұрын
Using thhat much polish and breathing this stuff in can cause long term damage sorta like cancer use a face mask and like i said before letting it ait does not a thing but just makes it harder to get off i been polishing alloy for years including clutch break handles also foot pads and front forks i can keep going so as soon as u use cone or wheel whatever you use to grind off oxidation immediatly take rag and wipe off saving your self the elbow grease have u ever polished car with turtle wax and let it sit in the sun to dry and try to remove well same thing with metal polish makes it harder to get it off

Couple things dudes.....don't you have any latex examination gloves? hehe That shit's not easy to get off your hands. Second, the wheels are cleared and the only time you should have to polish like this is when the clear has been stripped off. Otherwise you're taking the clear off polishing and they'll tarnish WAY faster without the clear finish. I wouldn't recommend doing this to just everyone....
@2MostlyBaldGuysKC
@2MostlyBaldGuysKC 8 жыл бұрын
its very easy to get off when you have the right soap. and as far as the tarnish if you go to a wheel shop and buy new wheels they tell you to do this to protect the wheels and i have never had a problem with it. but then again i take care of my vehicles, maybe someone that doesnt i dont know
@awittypilot8961
@awittypilot8961 8 жыл бұрын
2 Mostly Bald Guys Not bashing you guys....Just sayin....if you put abrasive polish on cleared wheels it will ruin them.. You should really only us a wheel once the clear is peeling.
@regaloparau3092
@regaloparau3092 6 жыл бұрын
So, if you know so much, would you share how to remove tarnish off the wheel WITHOUT removing the clear? (No disrespect intended) THAT would be very helpful because i have the same issue since the previous owner didn't take care of the bike...
