Finishing sand and gravel/pea gravel mix every day would be so much nicer and easier then what we have to pour up in the cold Midwest climates where concrete has huge stones in it. Makes putting in hand tool joints all the more complicated. Cali mud looks like easy money

You can use 3/8 rock and bump up your portland in the concrete use a 6.5 to a 8sack always talk to the costumer about what they want if they want a nicer finish let them know what there options are available in the concrete design. I pour concrete in an area that are weather can go from 40 or 50 degrees to 10 to 20 or - freeze and thaw. Using plasters and hot water with NCA) in cold weather pours. We can make our concrete place and pour concrete a little easier and not jeopardize the structure of the concrete. In fact it will be better concrete however it costs a little more. However you might be able to take out a Finsher to compensate for the extra cost of concrete and stay competitive with our competitors. Just a suggestion

Dude you don’t wear boots because you do homeowner patios, you know that every commercial job out here in So. Ca you need boots and hard hat, pants you can’t wear shorts and vans, name one form setter, rod buster, concrete finisher ? Bobcat operators, concrete pumpers that are owner yes but that’s it your workers do good work, I have respect for your workers, without them you ain’t shit . You need them more then they need you fore sure

Doughhead that's a very very small job. You act like you've accomplished some big feat. I'm retired now, back in the day my company would prep 10,000 to 15,000 Sq. Ft. In a day then pour it the next day.

I don't think those are his workers he owns concrete pumps and bobcats I think they hire him to pump concrete and operate a bobcat. If you look up his contractor license on CSLB website it's expired 2 years ago. I saw a comment he left on another video stating that he personally has never done any concrete finishing, or form setting. That is why never seem him doing any of that work either operating the pump, or a bobcat. Maybe he just gets the jobs and hires this other company to do the work he operates the pumps and bobcat. Lot of ways to run a business for sure.

Your concrete is to wet and soupy....A wet mix weakens the overall strength of the concrete....but I understand that's how you pour concrete in California.
@markdoumert5 ай бұрын
Thats the old rule. Slump is just one indicator of water/ cement ratio, which is the biggest factor in your ultimate strength. Well designed mixes with good aggregate sizes, and especially with a lot of cement content and some other additives can get you a super workable, wet mix and still make your specified strength. Im in Az and we pour basically the same way. Basically 3500 psi minimum spec on the jobs i do, midrange water reducer and microfiber. Shoot for a 6 slump makes finishing easier in the hot desert.
