So grateful to find this and you - definitely my nemesis pose because my heels lift, I tend to hyperextend my knees and now my left knee cannot handle deep flexion. I appreciate your "accessible" language and options! Back to the mat I go

Love your energy. I often include skandasana in my flows. Next time I will include layering these stages in warm up to get those still up high more comfortable and thinking how to get lower down. Thanks for sharing.

Awesome Rachel! Didn't realize there were so many options to this pose. I teach it to my chair yoga ladies and they do it by holding onto the seat of the chair, basically doing option 1. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks for this! Great tips on how to progress gently to doing this pose. Could you add a side view to help us see the alignment of knee over ankle?

Awesome! I think it’s gotten a bad rap because it can get “tossed in”~ much more fun to play with the accessible versions ;)

Hi Rachel, I Love your videos and teaching...they are so informative and you break down the material so that is practical and usuable. Thank you for all your hard work and sharing this with us. I was just wondering with this pose about the possibility of twisting our knee...in an earlier video you mentioned about the importance of keeping the knee in a hinge motion/position...does tracking it over the ankle as you mention in this video take care of that? Is that why this cue is used here? Thank you
@RachelScottYoga11 ай бұрын
Hi Nadia! Great to hear from you - and EXCELLENT question! As a best practice for general cuing, I do prefer to track the knee in yoga. And YES! That is why I would cue that here. Also, sometimes we avoid stretch the calf or working ankle mobility by caving the knee (or b/c of outer hip weakness), so I think it's useful to try. That said and truth be told, our knees move in a variety of non-linear ways. The key is that there is no pain! :)

Thank you @@RachelScottYoga ! Great information. I was worried about the overuse/repetitive injury (the no pain now, but slow progression over time and then poof). So, as long as we track the knee ...we should be safe. I guess we could also cue, feel the stretch in your calf... I think this has sunk in now. Thank you very very much for your help.

What if you bring rolled blanket under lifted heel ?

Yes! That can work, good solution~ I like that because you can still anchor heel into something ~
