Important thing is to visualize your success. I am playing RF in the Wimbledon finals. I beat him in the tie break of the 5th set. I console RF who is crying before the trophy award ceremony. Jim Courier interviews me. I thank all who helped me to get to this point; one of them is Nikola Aracic who is in my team box. Rafa Nadal yells from the first row if I want to go fishing with him … Then someone pushes me on the shoulder “Dmitry, wake up, go do the spring cleanup …” it is my wife. She ruins the dream.

Hi Nikola...I like the drills and use some of them at home...we can still get out to run and cycle(really makes you appreciate the simple things in life) so I take my racquet with me and swing away in a very secluded spot...not so sure if Andre likes his head being thrown around though,good book by the way...stay safe everyone in USA.

Excellent drills. Your creativity is very much appreciated. In the home drills, you mentioned the use of a "soft" ball. Is it larger than a tennis ball? What is it made of? Better yet: what is it and where would you get one? Thanks again!

I just got a Ksports tennis rebounder net which is perfect for at home practice. I was able to set it up in my basement for convenient winter training. Since one can hit with the first bounce off the metal plank, one doesn't need much fore-aft room and you could even set it up on a lawn or on sand/gravel although a hard even surface would be better for footwork. You can hit the ball very hard with spin and the net absorbs the energy and returns the ball like a coach gently feeding you balls. If I try to hit hard topspin on a wall, the ball comes back like a cannon shot, so it's harder to establish a fast wall rally. With this rebounder net I could rally 50 hits in a row fairly easily after getting used to it in less than a half hour. It is really good for stroke mechanics, tracking the ball, learning the sweet spot of your racket, gradually ramping up power, timing, shot accuracy/repeatability, and aerobic fitness with a high rate of strokes per session. You can work up a sweat. The ball bounces off the metal plank with a "Pong" sound which can be a training bonus. I try to hold my racket high in anticipation and wait for the Pong sound before I initiate a looping accelerating stroke through the ball, allowing racket momentum to power the shot. Because of the more rapid fire pacing, I have to work on applying good follow thru, because it is all too easy to cut follow thru short in anticipation of the next feed. Alternating forehand backhand is very good for learning how to quickly switch grips by feel. If your students use this at home for basic eye hand coordination and racket face angle, they could use your coaching time to focus on more advanced techniques.

Nik, do you think that using a weighted racket has a negative impact on your ground stroke form? I know it is good for building up racket head speed, but does it affect your swing motion due to the weight? Thanks!!
@IntuitiveTennis4 жыл бұрын
I am not a fan of shadow strokes, however with weight it can help the finish.
@LeihKauf4 жыл бұрын
Intuitive Tennis oh very interesting!! Why don‘t you like shadow swings?? In my younger ages I was swinging more than my shadow 😂😂 Where is your critic?
@IntuitiveTennis4 жыл бұрын
Not a big fan because we can’t recreate our strokes. The shadow stroke will be missing several technical elements that occur intuitively when we strike a ball. Having said that I do like swinging a weighted racquet, I feels better and prolongs the finish.

I like the basic foot drills and the dribbling. But i would offer caution with the weight on the racket. It makes a long lever and will injure your shoulder rotator cuff and bicep tendon. If I was you I would put a disclaimer on. Possibly a good idea for the young and under 40.I would check with a trainer first.
