Pastor, so glad I found you on my phone. As you were talking about this subject, I laughed a little. Then tears welled up. I do this, over and over. Also, I tell Jesus how much I love him, constantly. Knowing I cannot give him, enough. Never. But I try....I have just started going to a Lutheran church. After much searching, I believe I have found my place.

Hey pastor Wolfmueller, I've got the 1941 edition of the Lutheran Hymnal, given to me by our former pastor (he's retired now), I've found the mentioned prayers on page 102 and read along with you. It has been a tremendous blessing for us to discover such prayers. Thank you for bringing this up. Got a question concerning this topic, could we daily pray for the Holy Spirit to come to us? In doing so, what are we exactly doing/asking for? Are we appealing God for the Holy Ghost to enlighten us to understand God's word, by instance?

Old Hymnal fan here. Grew up with that one. Will check out those prayers, and yes, although I’m Lutheran, I also don’t think we talk enough about the Holy Spirit. Great little teaching! Thanks so much!

Thank you so much ✝️. I was brought up going to Lutheran churches. I remember being confused (as a child) hearing so often about the Holy Ghost 👻. Thank God I am beyond that 🙏📖✝️❗. Also, I liked what you said about waltzing into God's presence 🙂

So thankful for God's gift of prayer. Before a handbell practice one evening, many of us were feeling worn out or confused or upset over various events of the day. The director had us open our practice by praying The Lord's Prayer together. It was so comforting to be able to take our concerns before God. Everyone's concerns were varied and many of us could not have articulated a coherent petition if our lives depended upon it. Yet after prayer, our spirits were lifted and comforted in the assurance that we were heard.

Pastor, anytime you can plug The Lutheran Hymnal, my heart aches. I can't wait to see the time when you break down the Vespers, Order of Matins...anything in that old hymnal. Thank you!

You don't like the old hymnal? Why does your heart ache?

@@LisaB_12204 As usual, poor choice of words on my part. I love The Lutheran Hymnal. Aches clearly isn't the word that correctly describes my love for that book. I wish the LCMS had never moved away from it, in fact.

The Lord longs for being annoyed by the quantity of your prayers.... But, the quality for what you pray for may not acceptable. Just make sure that you pray for what is within God's Wil. So that you may delight in it.

Does this just means he gives the Holy Spirit once when we become saved? Or is this a continuous thing we can receive when we pray daily?

Is there a right way to be annoying in prayer? Are there certain things we should stop praying about if the prayers aren't answered?

There are three answers to prayer. Yes. No. and wait. Keep praying the scripture and He always says yes to His Word ...
