I have so much trouble printing bases that I've practically given up trying. I *thought* i knew the double row method, but i was clearly wrong and now I'm looking forward to trying again! Also, the brief demonstration of using this method for irregular shaped bases was great to see - i hadn't even thought of using the same method on irregular shapes, even though it seems to obvious. Cheers!

Great tutorial. I wish I had the time and space to mess with my printer, but I am just fighting with too many factors right now. I printed off a few that came out pretty great, but I went through a bunch of FEPs and kinda gave up for the time being.
@IPrint3dMinis
@IPrint3dMinis Жыл бұрын
Don't quit on it. 3D printing has it's challenges, but once you get there, you get it. You will still have fails, and blow out FEPs, but that's just part of it. Best of luck!

THANK YOU! I've been lost for days and finally have a solid game plan supporting my models which all have flat backs like a base. Question for anyone, how do you get the yellow grid pattern to show up? Sometimes I see it, but most of the time I don't, is it something you can turn on?
@TableFlipFoundry
@TableFlipFoundry Жыл бұрын
The grid pattern indicates the bottom faces of the model when you're in support mode. It comes on no matter what as far as I know.

This worked a treat for 32mm bases, but my large bases are failing BAD. Someone suggested that suction is the culprit, which sounds very likely to me.

Maybe I missed a part, but what's the best rotation angle to keep the round base for optimal printing and no distortion? more than 45 degree, a bit less?
@TableFlipFoundry
@TableFlipFoundry 10 ай бұрын
I do a bit less. I eyeball it honestly, but 30 ish degrees should be ok

Does the height of supports matter at all?
@TableFlipFoundry
@TableFlipFoundry Жыл бұрын
To some degree it can, some of the really big models will have very long supports on the back end, and you want to make sure to add extra bracing on those. - Sorry for the late reply. It's hard to keep up sometimes.

Isn't this a waste of resin? can you instead use branching support?
@TableFlipFoundry
@TableFlipFoundry 11 ай бұрын
I think failed prints are a bigger waste of resin. But also, professionally, I prefer to use a support technique that offers more stability during the printing process. Especially when holding a perfect shape is so important like on round bases. You're welcome to try to use branched supports if you like. But the resin savings is usually so marginal it's insignificant. 1 or 2 ml. Sometimes less.
