Hi, I'm an esthetician/MUA. I bring the dermalogica daily resurfacer with me. It is a little pad that fits over one of your fingers and its a great exfoliater. It also comes in individually wrapped packs, so awesome for us! After i do this, i will wipe it with a water wipe (found in baby section) the, I always use an essence before any serum, oil or moisturizer. In exteme cases, ill use the philosophy purity made simple mask right after exfoliating and before moisturizers. This mask is great bc it stays on for only one minute and then you wipe it, again with a water wipe! This mask isn't for hydration, its a cleaning mask but for extreme cases where clients have alot of built up skin, this will deep clean to allow skin to effectively use the moisturize and hence a much better canvas! If I happen to have to use everything I have stated above, it still only adds 5 minutes, but its 5, well worth minites spent, to have the makeup look great. *** of your client is extra sensitive, use the dermalogica colloidal mask instead. Its calming and hydrating!i carry this incase the exfoliation makes their skin super irritated or with a little birning sensation, this mask is calming. Its what we use after a laser treatment or a harsh peel. It will soothe and calm. Just a few little things I thought may be helpful to someone.

Costco sells cotton rounds in bulk and it has one side that has a bit of a rougher texture and one side that has a soft texture. These are so amazing for your spot exfoliation you're talking about. Also you can easily remove the layer of rough texture on the cotton pad. It's not like "rough" but it's textured so to speak. So perfect for this. Pretty sure they are just the Costco Kirkland brand of cotton rounds.

Your tips are fantastic! I'm having a bit of unhappy skin at the moment. Dry, blotchy, it's a but like sensitive meets rosacea meets acne but without the inflamed spots! Your tops are very gentle, I've tried a couple tonight and it's not as red. I didn't wash my face on the shower I used micellar water after instead and that's definitely helped. Thanks Angie xxx

Hey Angie!! I'm so happy you finally came out with this video. i was so eager for it! :) I'm not sure what is available in Canada, also I didn't read the comments before posting this, so forgive me if this has already been mentioned.. The brand Simple is great GREAT for sensitive skin.. they also have a wipe that is fairly textured on one side for exfoliation. It's actually marketed as an exfoliating wipe for sensitive skin. I use it daily, morning and night (on the five to six nights of the week I don't use an actual exfoliating scrub) for my super dry skin. It's also a staple in my kit. Also, I'm not sure if you mentioned this, but anytime I'm cleansing or exfoliating a face (ESPECIALLY those dry skinned beauties) before an application (or anytime really) I NEVER let the skin air dry. I always pat dry with a towel or cloth because I find with air drying a face will actually pull out extra moisture that is vital for dry skin. press drying it with a cloth dries the face, but also insures no extra moisture will be taken away in the drying process. Just a little tip I learned in my time of work. :)

Not sure if u managed to find exfoliating wipes, in case you didn't i finally found some excellent ones. They're the brand Nivea and their name is '3-in-1 Deep cleansing exfoliating wipes' they have a good rough texture, rough enough to get the dead skin off but never so rough the skin is irritated. I buy so many of these now, massive time saver ! hope that helps anyone if u still didn't find any :)

Hi Angie! I recently started using "compressed towels" in my kit and I absolutely LOVE them for exfoliation (and other uses too!). They are the size of a mint (you can get them individually wrapped or loose) and you just need a few drops of water to make them expand. I LOVE them, because they have a decent texture (not too rough but does the job) and best of all: they have no "product" in them! No skincare or cleansers or anything. One less irritant for a compromised skin. So I can use them with just water, OR with Bioderma, Embrioliyse, Sex-Appeal, or whatever I want. ...P.S. I get them on Amazon. I think they're mostly sold for campers and Moms on-the-go.

Can you do a video on the best tips on covering up really bad acne or rosacea and still have the skin looking like skin and not a cake face?
@AngieDiB
@AngieDiB 7 жыл бұрын
Great question! The short answer is to use foundation with great pigment and colour correctors (green to neutralize red) so you don't have to layer on a ton of product for coverage. Cake face is the result of unnecessary amounts of product on the skin.

I am a Senior Professional Temptu Airbrush Trainer for Delhi/NCR and I have learnt so so so much from you that I really wish you could feel my hug reaching you! "I" "LOVE" "YOU"! As for the product in my knowledge which is great for taking away all the dead skin cells from the surface of the skin for sensitive+flaky/dry skin is- Clinique Clarifying Lotion It would simply remove all the flaky dead skin cells with a single gentle wipe with a cotton pad. Then you may use all the products you love to use for prepping the dry skin up before makeup. Hope it helps! Much Love,

Hi Angie! I am just starting my freelance mua career and you have been such an inspiration and goldmine find for me. I would really love a video on foundation application on different skin types and different foundations (water or silicone base) Which foundation type is best for each? What beauty tools are best for application on either? I've been using the Wet N Wild Photofocus Foundation on my clients and even though I moisturize and prime their face y find it ends up looking dry and gets caked. I have had to remove and re apply most of the time adding some oil but find it doesn't always help. PLEASE HELP! I love all your videos, you are a godsend! 💋

Hello!! I am a MUA that is new to the industry and I have to say that your channel has been really helpful and I really appreciate you sharing your tips and skills. Thank You! Also I had some questions! Would you recommend the RCMA foundation over Mac foundations? Is the RCMA really superior in ingredients? How do I start to figure out undertones and how to get the perfect foundation without wasting time if I have a bunch of customers to do? Because before I would just use Mac which has set colors. Thank you so much!!
@AngieDiB
@AngieDiB 7 жыл бұрын
Hello! You really have to work with what is best for you when it comes to foundations. I like RCMA because I can transform it into a number of finishes - from sheer to opaque - I can work with this foundation quickly and easily, and I don't need to bring a large number of different foundations with me. As far as colour matching goes it's just matter of learning what shades in RCMA work for what skin tones, once you have an understanding of that it's just a matter of swatching the product on your client like you would any other foundation to make sure you have selected the best shade. If you love MAC and it's working for you than continue to work with it!

Hey, just a side note- rose hip oil isn't an essential oil, it's actually a carrier or "normal" oil. Essentials are lavender oil, tee trea oil, etc, that need to be diluted before applying to the skin.

Hey Angie! I stumbled across your channel a few days ago and I'm so thankful for your videos! Your channel is honestly a breath of fresh air! I really appreciate how real you are. I'm trying to build a small freelance kit to create natural glam looks mostly for bridal prom or a nice date night out. My go to style is warm neutrals for the eyes. I'm getting a few MAC blushes. Are there any your recommend? Also what do you think of the MAC Paint Pots for eye primer? I know every Beauty Guru has talked them up so much (Soft Ochre & Painterly). I'm so tempted to get both... but if there is something you use that works better I would love to try that instead.

Just stumbled across this video and that Ordinary oil is awesome! Any updates on this video for spot exfoliating? It would be great if there were wipes or pads that were sold that have slightly raised bumps to grab and remove that old, dead dry skin that do not contain a soap/cleanser as many other exfoliating wipes do. I don't want to have to worry about removing soap/cleanser off my clients face.

I'm still using baby wipes/exfoliating makeup wipes! The exfoliating pads commonly sold are too expensive for me and most of them contain ingredients that are a little to harsh for me to leave on a client's skin (especially a client I have never worked on before).

Your channel is really informative! I am an aspiring MUA and I am learning a lot from you. I hope that you can have a video that tackles about how to deal with clients with acne or pimples. How should I prep it and how to cover it. :)

OMG, I feel like hyperventilating! Angie liked my comment! *fangirling. I also want to know if you have any dupes for mac studio fix powder and mac blot powder :) Actually that is my second suggestion: dupes of high-end products that aspiring MUAs (like me) can start with :)
@AngieDiB
@AngieDiB 6 жыл бұрын
I'm going to be completely honest here - In my experience dupes with some products can be a giant waste of time and money and most of the time (especially with foundations/powders/complexion prouducts) they do not preform as well on set. Learn how to work with fewer products and save your money and invest in quality products for your kit. You may be able to find something similar to Blot Powder but there is no dupe for Studio Fix that I have tried.

Hi Angie, I have a follow-up question about applying the hydrating mist/oil -- can it cause silicone or water-based foundations to separate? I have very dry skin (the kind that soaks up moisture, not the dull kind) and I've been struggling with my foundation not applying smoothly or separating slightly despite trying many different application techniques. I wondered if different composition of base ingredients (e.g., silicone/oil/water) could be the problem. I know there could be lots of factors potentially causing that issue but essentially I'm wondering if adding an oil could be problematic versus if the skin is truly dry enough to soak up the oil, would that not matter? Maybe I should give hydrating mists another try instead? Thanks so much for your input -- love your videos!

Hey Charlotte! What you choose as your skin care (and the base of those products) can absolutely have an effect on the longevity and wear of your makeup. As we know oil and water do not mix, and this is true of oil and silicone as well! Adding an oil to the skin that is not fully absorbed can cause the issues you are having with your makeup.

@@AngieDiB Hi Angie, thanks so much for the reply! For now, I will try to just layer non-oil-based hydration for my dry skin so that it won't cause problems with my silicone-based makeup. Eventually if this doesn't work, I guess I could consider using an oil-based makeup for my mostly dry (partly combination) skin. I appreciate the input. Keep up the great content!

hi angie...firstly I love ur videos coz each of them are so educational and I have learnt so much as a mua that is starting out. I have a couple of questions I wanted to ask u. I am from India and most clients I deal with have acne scars and blemishes, while I do my best to conceal them after I start the powder contouring, the spots appear black behind the contoured area and doesn't look good. please advise how to tackle this. Also marketing myself was never my strong point so can you share a few tips on how and who to approach ex professionals. thanks
@AngieDiB
@AngieDiB 7 жыл бұрын
Hi Valene! I would recommend doing all your contouring with cream products before setting with powder and that should eliminate your problem. When you are marketing yourself it's all about networking and connecting with people, you need to have a portfolio you are proud of and get out there and share your work with people.

Also I have combo skin.. very oily in my t zone and dry on my cheeks and near my mouth and aloe Vera also helps with keeping in the moisture. I usually mix it with an essential oil (sweet almond oil) or a moisturizer that is made for dryer skin because I have eczema do I need the extra moisture... and let it sit and it helps keep my skin moisturizer the whole day

For the person with extreme dry skin when you recommended the use of an essential oil; do you apply moisturizer first and then the oil or are you mixing the two? If you're not mixing, how are you applying the oil to the skin? Thank you! I'm obsessed with your channel!

Great question!!! Normally what I do is apply a moisturizer and really work it in, I let it sink in for a few minutes and then press in a small amount of the rose oil with my fingers if needed. I give it a few more seconds to settle and and then makeup goes on!

@AngieDiB

That is a great question! It totally depends on the type of skin - certain dry skins soak up the embryolisse regardless of the season. With average dry skin in the summer I may use a lighter hydrating gel - totally depends on the skin!

If I am touching up someone that already has makeup on, I don't really worry about my own style - it's too late for that lol I will normally touch up with a loose powder, lip colour and blush and not worry too much about it.

@AngieDiB
@AngieDiB 7 жыл бұрын
Hi Allie! I very rarely use primer so i'm a bad person to ask about that LOL! I am not a fan of primer under the foundations I use in my kit, I would much rather make sure I use or layer some good moisturizing products under my foundations.
@makeupmev
@makeupmev 7 жыл бұрын
Is there a reason for this? Why do you not use primers? I feel that the common thing is to use a primer so I'm a little surprised you don't use one!
@AngieDiB
@AngieDiB 7 жыл бұрын
Hi Mevla! I'm not one to follow the rules lol!!! I just find primer is a step that doesn't really improve my makeup application. It creates a barrier in between the makeup and skin, the makeup slides around. I prefer how makeup looks once it has settled onto the skin with no barriers in between. But do whatever works for you!
@makeupmev

I'll have to test this out. I guess I always followed the 'norm' because everyone says you have to use a primer, lol. Btw I just want to say I loveeee what you're doing with your channel! @AngieDiB

It definitely depends on where you are exfoliating and what product you are using. You could use any of those things provided you aren't doing damage to the skin. Start with the most gentle form of exfoliation and progress from there.

Hey Angie! :) Today in class I had to practice on someone who still had sunburn flakes and lots of redness that was 5 days post their sunburn. I'm wondering if there's something I can add to my kit to help with that if I face it in the future on a real job. Would you use the Avene soothing mask if you have a client that shows up somewhat sunburnt since it for flakes and redness?

@AngieDiB
@AngieDiB 4 жыл бұрын
For myself I would rather cut corners on other parts of the application in favour of skin prep. You can try suggesting your clients prep their own skin or if their skin doesn’t need much prepping at all, skip it and only do what is necessary (for example if their skin is hydrated but may need some shine control - only apply something for shine control).

Angie, thank you for all the informative videos, I just wanted to point out that in the US at least, the term essential oil is used for oils that are very fragrant and concentrated, they cannot be used on the skin without proper dilution (think lavender, tea trea, frankincense...). The oils you are referring to are actually carrier oils, like the rose hip, jojoba, almond. There’s a huge difference in how they are used. I’m just trying to clarify so you don’t have viewers trying to use straight lavender essential oil on their face lol
