I ended up purchasing most of the products you've suggested. I know you mentioned in your videos that I should work with what I have, but I always had issues with applying moisturizer and my face being dry a few seconds or minutes later. I've been putting simple makeup since I was in College and I struggle with dry skin and irritation. I checked the reviews properly for the products you've suggested and I'm just really glad I came across your channel. It's so great to finally hear a make up artist that is knowledgeable when it comes to different skin types and that truly cares for her clients. Thank you! 😀

I have watched and love all your skin prep videos! I was wondering if you would be able to do a video on bridal makeup/long wear makeup i really like the natural glowing makeup and i don't like to use a lot of powder but i know makeup doesn't last as long if you don't powder. I would really like to know how to do a dewy finish on all skin types that last the day thanks
@AngieDiB6 жыл бұрын
It's impossible for the most part unless you have someone with dry skin or you are able to be there for the day to touch up. You have to turn to powder highlighters layered over creams to get the dewy skin effect that is long wearing.

I am very dry and sensitive skinned so I am so glad to see some additional tips. I grew up never using powder because it took away the beautiful finish when I did my makeup. I still don't use very much powder except where absolutely necessary. I am always experimenting to find great skin prep steps PRIOR to applying complexion products. There is a difference between chronically Dry skin and dehydrated skin. Do you ever use serums, mists and waters and oils in your prep? Like a HA serum, or essences? Do you find that oils break down the makeup and affect longevity?
@AngieDiB6 жыл бұрын
Good question! For the work I do I try to stay away from serums/essences - it shortens the amount of time the makeup stays put on the skin (in my opinion). They are great to use for beauty shoots when the model only has to have the look on for a short period of time. Oils/serums/essences are great to have in your kit for recovery, you can apply them on the model once you have removed the makeup for the day!

I love your videos!! Any tips for fixing areas that you miss are dry and don't notice until foundation is on and looks patchy?
@AngieDiB5 жыл бұрын
Remove and start over in those areas. If you try to apply anything over top of skin that has not been prepped properly or is dry and flakey it will be worse later on!

@AngieDiB6 жыл бұрын
Definitely! Just be careful how much powder you use. You can use powder on dry skin, just try to limit using layers of powder products.

Hi! Thank you for all the helpful videos so glad that youtube suggested your videos. I would like to ask, for primer on dry skin, is there any guide for it or depending on what the skin needs? Let's say, the t-zone can get little bit oily and the client has large pores, what would you suggest? I watched other person video recommending primer with dimethicone for dry skin so I'm curious what's your thought on it thank you!
@AngieDiB3 жыл бұрын
Skin prep for makeup is very client/situation dependant. Silicone based primers work on all skin types (what's more important is what goes under it to address the skin type). A primer for large pores that I like is NYX Pore Filler (although I don't use it that often) myshlf.us/p-70266

@AngieDiB5 жыл бұрын
Are you asking about your own personal makeup application or makeup application on other people? If it is for your own personal use you should be wearing sunscreen daily. For makeup application on others usually if you are on set shooting it is an unnecessary step unless you are working in film/television etc. outdoors for longer periods of time.

I have the VK11 palette for my kit so far and adding some highend foundation slowly but I was wondering, with this kind of wax base foundation, can we put oil as a primer (like the smashbox one) underneath it? or any other primer at all like a silicone base or else? I use the embryoliss this works really well too but sometimes I would like to try something else depending on skin type.
@AngieDiB6 жыл бұрын
I don’t recommend any primer with the RCMA, and personally (not sure how long you have been watching the videos) I rarely ever use primer in my kit. I can’t stand it! Because I’m out of the loop on primers as well I don’t have any suggestions for you on that!
@phoebefraser83366 жыл бұрын
I use the VK11 almost all the time, for most dry-normal skin I use Embryolisse all over and Make Up For Ever Hydrating Primer in the centre as I do find it helps with longevity. For oily areas or oily skin types I’ve always found the MAC Matte Gel works really well with the RCMA as long as you press it in to the skin well first. (but like Angie, I’m not a big believer in primers haha)

do you have any additional things you do for your bridal clients? an extra mask step or anything?
@AngieDiB5 жыл бұрын
No, I don't usually. Masks can interfere with the hair and make it oily around the perimeter of the face and I usually barely have enough time to do their makeup as it is. Any special or specific skin treatments should be on and off long before they get to me! I usually gift them a luxury lash and get on with the application!

Hey Angie, I was just wondering about skin undertones for medium to darker clients. We know caucasians generally have either a pink or yellow undertone, but how about darker clients? Or does that just come down to basic Colour theory? 🙂 Also, are you able to do a video of eyeliner techniques for different eye shapes. I struggle with this sometimes 😩
@AngieDiB6 жыл бұрын
To answer your first question it’s the same with deeper skin tones. But when you look at foundations for deeper skin you are going to be looking for more red or yellow. With medium/deep skin tones you also need to look out for olive undertones as well. It is defintiely all colour wheel for sure! As we get into my makeup applications on more actual people I will be sure to mention all of this (including different eyeliner techniqes).

Hi Angie I have question , I have a documentary tv show that I am producing with my husband and also doing the makeup for the host myself . ( I was graduated makeup school from Thailand and starting my career as a makeup artist for couple of years now) What is best sunscreen underneath foundations that looks nice and beautiful on HD . We will be shooting outdoor this summer in North of Newfoundland and some part in Labrador for month , strong wind , strong sun and cold most of the time and the hosts skin react to sea salt water too. Since the show is not all about put on makeup but very light natural makeup and healthy skin. Any suggestions would help 😀. Always nice to have senior working makeup artist who have more experienced sharing their knowledge to new makeup artist. Thank you so much . Chisa
@AngieDiB6 жыл бұрын
In my experience any fluid sunscreens will work as long as they are being applied under a foundation that is well pigmented. There are so many brands that make light sunscreens (available in all spfs) I like LaRoche Posay, Ombrelle and Neutrogena.

Do you have any tips for products balling please?
@AngieDiB6 жыл бұрын
You'll have to give me a little more info to work with.
@liukuey-tantribe17816 жыл бұрын
So I've had a bad experience with a dry skin, she had already advised me she had moisturised so I went ahead and primed (hydrating primer) but when I went to apply foundation, the foundation it just balled and everything kept lifting. It got worse when I powdered so I then wiped half to see if I just used moisturiser and no primer, but that also still didn't work. She had very dry skin as well as flakey brows.
@AngieDiB6 жыл бұрын
That can happen when using primers. Some primers can almost repel off certain skin care and start to ball up and lift off. It’s a matter of having ingredients in the products that don’t agree with each other (like oil and water). To correct this you have to completely remove the makeup/skin prep and start over to figure out which two products are not agreeing with each other - you also have to use clean brushes if you start over.
