Really helpful thank you! Am no longer a new grad I been a PACU nurse for a year now BUT i do want to go to ICU. I would love to hear any advice how to get the job. All hospitals want icu experienced

So is the preceptorship, like an internship while you’re in school? Also, do you basically work like a nurse and take on the job in the unit throughout the whole preceptorship? Anyway, I really loved this video. Keep sharing your experiences 😍

Most programs have it but not all. Basically the BRN requires us to complete a certain amount of overall clinical hours and this is one way programs allow us to explore where we want to end up when we go into the field as new grads. For the most part, if the unit is hiring, this is a great way to get hired but sometimes due to budget and other things a unit may not be hiring (but the unit director can recommend you to a unit in that hospital who is hiring). You’re under the supervision of a nurse as you don’t have a license yet but they basically teach you the way of their job and make sure you’re learning the whole time.
