Does the soda ash make the colors stay in the fabric and make them more vibrant? My issue was whenever I would wash the shirts they would fade SO MUCH! Does the soda ash fix this and help the dye stay??!!

I tried one without soda ash but the colour is still intact. Maybe you should try a different dye thank you. I used Dylon.

I’m using vinegar that’s what I can use.

The type of dye you use can also make a difference. I’ve seen Procion MX recommended for colorfastness.

Soda ash is a dye activator, i allows the fabric fibers to absorb dye. you dont mix the dye with it, you just want to dip the fabric in the dye activator for 20 mins, then rinse it and apply dye. After dyeing you can use dye fixative that stops colors from bleeding and helps in making colors to be more brighter.

I checked further, and found out that baking soda is less powerfull then washing soda (soda ash is washing soda but stronger). so, if you want to use washing soda (in Europe you call it simply soda for cleaning is ok). now we both have the answer :)

Anybody chime in here. You soak the t-shirts for several minutes. I get that. BUT is there any rush to get them out of the solution? I'm doing a PILE of t-shirts. But not all at once, and not all on the same day. Can they just sit in the SODA ASH SOLUTION for a few days while I dye them when I have time?

yeah if they are all fully submerged. and make sure your soda ash ratio is good
