It seems that this is a private conversation between the two awesome people and me, but it has some public elements as well, bc it is a reminder for all of you precious people out there to be careful and have a keen eye on your tires. It does not matter which car you are driving and don't assume "This can't happen to me." IT CAN! Our right front tire exploded. Result: Coach totaled. To show everybody how devastating it was I wanted to show a pic here, but somehow I am not able to copy the pic in here.

Hi guys, Really useful video, there were things We had no idea about and will definitely be making notes on this blog. We use a Smartie (or it might be Smarty, using VoiceOver due to being blind means I don’t always get the spelling correct!) mobile data only when away in the van and if memory serves me right, European coverage goes up to 50 GB per month. It’s a difficult decision what to do but, if you can jump on Wi-Fi while away in France, Spain, Germany or wherever, this would help keep your mobile data usage down. Another point, in France if your vehicle is over 3500 kg, you must display the angle of death stickers on the back and if court without them, the French authorities are very strict with a heavy fine. We plan on putting these on anyway, even though we are currently Under the weight limit and it just covers us so it’s not to attract unwanted attention. Don’t forget that both of you also need to have a fluorescent vest, just in case you break down along with a warning triangle. It’s great fun planning to go to Europe in the motorhome! @@anewlifeinthevan Julia, If your van is plated at 3500 kg maximum gross weight you do not need the angle of death stickers but, the gens d’armes (armed people / Police) might decide to pull you over and check your vehicles plate to ensure you’re not breaking the law. Displaying these stickers can however have a detrimental effect. If you do decide to use a toll road as the amount payable is dependent upon the vehicles, weight and dimensions. So, it is swings and roundabouts with regards to displaying these stickers on the rear of your vehicle. If you plan on avoiding toll road, it might be an idea to put them on anyway thus reducing the possibility of being pulled over for a vehicle check. We use RWG mobile big bundle in the UK. They use the EE network and I get 100GB a month abroad and 200GB a month in the UK for £20 a month, no contract. We'll tell you more when we see you in a few days 😮😮😮.

Hi both. Just stumbled across your channel. Love your energy Julia. We had a 4 week trip through France & Spain in starting early December 2023 and arriving back in England in January this year having travelled on Le Shuttle there and back. We only stayed on 2 campsites - 4 nights in Benidorm & 2 nights just outside of Cartagena. The rest were free aires. Going back again later this year. Our Crit Aire was number 6 and it was €4.65 On a different. Note - Could I just say that we watch KZbin on our television and if we need to pause to look at what is written in your captions, we can’t actually see what you have put on there because a load of stuff appears at the bottom of the screen about KZbin channels. So - is it possible for you to put you captions at the top of the screen ? Thank you for reading this. Sez.

Hello, we're looking to get an older motorhome so going through france and spain, if we get one of those brown ulez stickers from france, does that mean we'd be OK to go Into any low emission areas in france, do we still need to pay a fee in those areas?.... and I think you said it was accepted in spain too? We thought we'd not be able to buy a van under 2015. Do u know if we can get one of these stickers which allows us to do this in the uk too? ❤

Hi, thanks for the question, the colour of the sticker will depend on your van when you apply for it. The sticker helps the authorities identify your vehicle if you go in any low emission zones, but you will still be charged. It is accepted in Spain too but the UK don't have the same system. We never used cities so it wasn't an issue but it's a legal requirement to have an emissions sticker. Hope that helps. Julia and Gary
