As a 27 year old man who doesn’t ever eat healthy food, I can confirm when I do eat healthy, it always sucks. But I know it must be done. So here I am. Watching this video. I am now going to go procure nourishment via Kale.
@NutritionwithLorelei2 жыл бұрын
Hi Victor! I firmly believe eating healthy food doesn't have to suck. But I understand your feeling. Good luck with the kale - I hope it sucks slightly less this time. 😊

you can do you own research and it's all over the internet. start out by searching Kale is Bullsh*t. it's really just buffet filler that was turned into a so called health food. @@michaelbalfour3170

I love your kind of people. You are spreading the right information that can help so many people. I add a little kale to my salad, as I eat near about 500 grams of salad in my meal. I eat the stem too.

I put cranberries or raspberries, walnuts and tomatoes on my kale salad. I use salt, pepper, olive oil, honey, and lemon to make the sauce. My husband devours the entire bowl 😂😊

Thanks for the information! I don't want limp leaves of any kind, so raw appeals to me. Your tips on how to prepare it are awesome! I may try sauteing for about 30 seconds sometime.

@jayski94103 жыл бұрын
My favorite way is to toss the leaves just like you did with olive oil and salt but that's all. Then spread it all out on sheet pan. Put it in a low (200 degree) oven and let it shrink and get crisp. It's almost like healthy potato chips.
@NutritionwithLorelei3 жыл бұрын
Agreed. Love that crispiness too. It's so much easier than it seems like it should be!

An Asian restaurant/takeout place here in France, makes a delicious kale dish. It is small and intense. I fear it is too good to be healthy. Do you know an Asian style as I described it? Good recipe from you, so subscribed and look forward to more ideas.

I'd just wash it and tear it a little bit smaller so my blender could handle it, but then the blender does all the work!

Try adding sugar or honey to the lemon..stir and dissolve the sugar or honey in the lemon juice and then pour it over the Kale. The sweet sour flavor is the best.
@NutritionwithLorelei2 жыл бұрын
Love the suggestion! I personally try to avoid using sugar on something like kale, but if it's what makes the greens go down, enjoy!

Thanks for the ideas. I bought some kale recently and ate it for the first time straight,, just washed it and ate it! It was sort of like eating dried out old crepe paper? 😫 I figured there must be better ways so I'm hitting the interwebs for advice! 😅

I've eaten kale the first time that I can tasted it It was weird but I cannot add salt olive oil I'm not into that either I know what Kale does but if you talk about healthy you know salt is not any good other than that your video is explanatory just that when it comes to cooking it don't you burn off all the nutrition that is inside kale

Yes is an interesting recipe but I rather left it in water for half an hour then rinse it to remove the massive quantity of herbicide and pesticide that all the veggies do have now a days. Then boil it for five minutes, removing the water, add up lemon, olive oil, some pieces of sweet apples so it won't taste like thistle that horses eat and suffer while showing the thistle fool if spiky needles. We eat a lot of salads with raw cabbage finely cut like thine spagetty, lemon and olive oil. Is the salad of the poor together with organic rucula that comes back every sumer in the vegetable plot.
@NutritionwithLorelei3 жыл бұрын
Sounds good! Kale is somewhat versatile, so you do you for sure. I also love thin sliced cabbage for noodle-like salads.

Lovely kale drenched with liquid fat and doused with salt, yikes! Something wrong with the teeth, l somehow manage to eat it raw. If you must soften, blanching would be best.
@NutritionwithLorelei3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Matthew - sure, nothing wrong with blanching kale, but if you want it raw, few have your determination to chomp on it plain. No need to drench with fat or douse with salt, a little bit will go a long way!

As someone who eats raw kale every--single--day, I can honestly say I don't employ any of your methods: too slow and cumbersome. I also laughed when you added a "ton of salt" to your kale.

Thanks for watching the video NP. As a dietitian I am always excited to hear from people who get greens daily! There are many for whom greens are intimidating, so having a few ways to make them more palatable is crucial. Hopefully everyone will eventually graduate to your level of green consumption. 😊

@@NutritionwithLorelei I guess you're right. If it doesn't taste good, you're essentially giving people the excuse to spit it out. Of course, you could always send them to Chic-fil-A where the scrumptious salads are all under 300 calories.
