How to deal with itchy flaky scalp
@linnermibey11227 жыл бұрын
A. Kendal I used to have the same problem until I introduced a coffee rinse into my wash day routine...don't use the coffee that is fully processed...there is a type that kinda looks ungrounded and is really good to deal with hair shedding, just boil ENUF for your hair depending on hair length, let it cool to a warm temperature, pour it on your scalp and strands before you condition your hair, let it sit for 30 min then proceed with wash days....this days I lose just a few strands of hair....
@linnermibey11227 жыл бұрын
missnana simple..aloe vera gel the plant, apply the gel on your scalp then proceed to prepoo your hair, sleep with it overnight....also black Jamaican castor oil during your moisturizing day helps...
@danieellah35047 жыл бұрын
Linner Mibey wow thanks a lot. i will definitely try it. you did not mention if i were to rinse my hair or not after the coffee rinse. and please do you know if i can use castor oil for prepoo?

We almost do the same thing. I learnt in cosmotology school to do hot oil treatments on dry hair and sit with it for 20 minutes under the steamer. I use natural oils such a almond, olive or coconut. ☺👍

I mix my coconut oil with shea butter and olive oil heat ,melt it and apply it and let it rest overnight.

I have never tried a prepoo. I will definately incorporate it. It's actually simple. Thanks Sheila. By the way, do you do henna treatments? If yes, I would love a video on it. ☺☺

Great vid Sheila...Love it! 💓. I switched from prepooing with oil to prepooing with a conditioner.I find that works better for my low porosity hair as oil just tends to sit on the hair and goes not get absorbed.
@SheilaNdindavideos7 жыл бұрын
Thank you babe. The wonders of natural hair, I stopped using conditioner to prepoo ! It would just soften my hair but not prevent my hair from all that breakage when it expands and contracts when in contact with water. Maybe you could use a hooded dryer to help the oil get easily absorbed into your hair strands?
@kadyzouk22684 жыл бұрын
For my hair pre pooing I use the same steps as you but I use a mixture of pure castor oil, Jamaican black castor oil, tea tree oil and few drops of peppermint oil
@bakaji31317 жыл бұрын
Argh I wish my hair would like coconut oil as it’s such a great detangler ! For my prepoo I use aloe vera gel on my scalp to get rid of product build up and moisturize my scalp, then I use jbco mixed with almond oil on the hair strands twist it all up in sections, wrap with a plastic bag and straight to bed ! I’m curious though, how long does it take you to apply your prepoo? I feel like I’m so slow at doing my hair 😱 Great video, thank you !

Aki I quit this natural hair manenos. This has been the longest 4 weeks of my life 😖. No one told me how hard it would be, and my hair has just refused to corporate. I'm not trying to discourage anyone, I guess it's just not for everyone. Anyway thanks for sharing.
@linnermibey11227 жыл бұрын
Susan Njeri I used to think the same until I found a way to cut down on TLC for my hair while still maintaining the basics...I moisturize once a week, in the middle of the week, prepoo on Fri, wash on Saturday...and the hair manenos end there....just leave your hair be as long as it's moisturized...it will grow...and the shedding of hair reduces tremendously once you significantly reduce the number of times your hands are in your hair...lol
@njerin23557 жыл бұрын
Linner Mibey thanks for the tip, I'll try it out. I'm also having trouble finding "my look" (taking head shape & size, hair length & type into consideration) so I'm really not confident with my natural hair. Sad but true.
@linnermibey11227 жыл бұрын
Susan Njeri lol....you must go through the awkward stage to get to the better lengths...lol....for this stage ad just say rock the hell outta that fro!!...big loops and nice makeup would do the trick....:)

Woiye!! I'm so sorry you feel that way. This natural hair journey requires a lot of special attention, time, care and patience. It gets so much easier when you understand your hair, learn it's characteristics and when you stop comparing it to other peoples hair because this is your journey! Just find time and learn to care for your hair, show it some TLC and it will flourish.

@SheilaNdindavideos7 жыл бұрын
hahaha what do you mean by being lazy ? You do''t even use conditioner to soften your hair ?
@hiukojo7 жыл бұрын
Sheila Ndinda my first wash is usually either a shampoo bar or black soap then conditioner for wash two. I don't pre poo but I always D.C. after each wash so I guess that helps.

Thank you Ivy. Unfortunately, I cannot be able to because my hair texture is not 3c. What is more important is analysing your hair characteristics like your hair's Porosity. This will help you in buying products that cater to your hair needs.

Hey Sheila, I recently decided to go natural but i 'm a little confused on whether i need to shave off my hair because i permed it last year October but since then i have been micro braiding and i just took off my braids and i did the prepoo..what would you do?
@SheilaNdindavideos7 жыл бұрын
Hey Susan, congratulations on making this decision. Now you can either shave/chop off your relaxed ends or choose to transition to natural. What I mean is, you would have to let your hair grow until the length you are comfortable with, then cut the relaxed ends at that point. From your comment I can tell you are already transitioning. If you are able to manage your hair at this point then you can continue transitioning but remember to take great care of your hair to avoid breakage. This articles will help you get started. www.africantressesandtreats.com/the-big-chop-vs-transitioning/#more-771 www.africantressesandtreats.com/steps-to-guide-you-on-your-natural-hair-care-journey/

How do you keep your hair so soft? i can't seem to contain my hair plus it's so voluminous i have difficulties combing it even when wet/conditioned. What do u suggest? How long have u been natural also? I love how u can maintain ur hair. I see it didn't shred off much, mine shreds off a lot whenever im working on it. In fact I need a whole daily hair routine😕
@iky1837 жыл бұрын
hi I had the same problems..my solution was trim weak ends which tangle hence breakage...before combing try detangling using fingers and take you time...I would always moisturise my hair before and after bed..use shampoo without paraben and such chemical..avoid sleeping with open hair..give your hair time to breath btwn protective style..avoid heat on hair.massage scalp regularly.i was my hair twice a week..use big tooth comb..and from root going to sculp.avoid lots of products in hair....hope I said something helpful and goodluck

What's your hair routine ? How often do you moisturize. Have you identified your hair's porosity, is it low or high? This will also help you to buy products depending on your hair needs. When you understood what your hair requires for a successful hair journey then caring for your natural hair will become a lot easier for you. Read this article for more info www.africantressesandtreats.com/steps-to-guide-you-on-your-natural-hair-care-journey/ I've been natural for 3 years now.

I'm not sheila and you may not value my opinion but just know some of the products you use may not work on your hair. However, it's a long process before you actually find what works. I'm a treseme, grape seed oil, shea butter sulphur grease and aloe gurl

I heard that when u put oil on ur hair it doesn’t allow any other moisture to go through and since oil and water doesn’t mix how does this go when it’s time to wash ur hair? Like from ur experience, when u are washing ur hair does it Greek like the water washes out the oil or does it just stay in their and feel silky the whole time cause if it can wash out and the ur actual hair gets the washing from shampoo conditioner and stuff that’ll be good but idk it contradicts itself.

Rose Betty Make sure you seal in the moisture using an oil or some butter/cream. Remember water or any water based product is your moisture. You want to also deep condition your hair every week during wash day so that your hair is able to retain the moisture. Tie a satin bonnet or scarf overnight.
