just started my locs in late april ‘22. my locs are starting to get flat in the back because i have slept on them wet, my locs are pretty big (thin hair, 46 locs) AND i 2 strand twisted my own hair so i parted them like box braids. this was sooo helpful as i’m able to correct this issue before it becomes a major problem! this vid alone was enough to make me subscribe. thank you 🫶🏾

It's a thing of preference. Some people prefer flat, some prefer cylindrical but none is less beautiful. For me, it's all about the volume. There's a form of compression that happens when locs flatten which reduces volume. As far as my locs are concerned, volume is the most important factor to me.❤️❤️❤️

My main concern is the new growth, if I chose to not retwist often or at all, how will the roots maintain their cylindrical shape. I have square parting and fear that being reluctant to retwist will cause my roots to loc flat. Is that a valid concern or am I worrying too much? I don’t sleep on wet locs either

It that case, you have nothing to worry about. I've never retwisted my locs the conventional way and I also have other locs that I maintain this way. All our locs are cylindrical. As long as you follow the preventive measures I shared in this video, you'll be fine. ❤❤❤

So do i palm roll in the spot where it is flat, Or does that matter?

You can palm roll the spot to make it cylindrical but that will make the locs slimmer. If you're concerned about that you can pinch it from time to time instead. This is the method I use. Although it will take longer to see result unlike palm rolling but the locs will remain thick.
