I always really like Jocko ‘s quote about discipline: “Discipline equals freedom.” I try to think of that when I need to do something like go to the gym and I don’t feel like it.

I have found that if i write the goal i want to meet then under it write all that i need to do to get there and place it were you and all can see(accountability). This has worked for me. You just have to ask your self how bad do you want it? Get after it. Loved the video brother everything was on point keep them coming.

Program discipline - eliminate excuses
@geobeard38044 жыл бұрын
This is so obvious yet so eye opening. Excuses are easy, but they're also very easy to eliminate or work around. Accept the desire to find excuses, but always be looking for workarounds.

i was struggling with keeping on a workout regime, so i started with small daily micro workouts to get myself in the flow of having a routine daily. i can start small with some pushups, sit-ups, pull-ups whenever i had free time. and when im use to working out everyday and can graph small progress it will help me keep my regime. i feel this was my way of addressing one of my struggles with discipline. i felt too busy to workout but really i just didn't have the time management.

How about 5am? Let me share the two main reasons I struggled (and still struggle) with getting up. 1. Going to bed too late. I would keep watching KZbin and tell myself "just this 10min video" before EVERY video and then going to bed when I was actually destroyed. 2. Sleeping at an irregular schedule. This messed up my circadian rhythm and it made me miss alarms and be late for work. Watch videos on improving your sleep, then set habits in place. I got a sunrise simulating alarm clock, it has a bright light that fades on before the wakeup time and plays birds chirping or owls singing. That makes you wake up in a period of shallow sleep, which is natural and less interruptive to your body. I'm using f.lux on my computer which filters out the blue and green tones of my monitor at night and tells me how long it is until I'll get up.

It can’t hurt to make little adjustments like these to improve the conditions for success, but ultimately you just have to do it. If you solve for thing x then your lazy brain will turn to thing y for an excuse. Discipline is discipline. You just have to do it. There is no other way.

I found that for me, I can only achieve discipline when I'm working out and lifting heavy. I have to follow that with a shower, and then a good meal. Afterwards, work and eat again to maintain muscle, then have some fun but without alcohol to avoid lowering my lifting performance. I also need to wake up early and be ready to hit the gym early to have enough time for work and online courses. But the thing is, then closed every single gym here in Egypt, the whole system failed. I lost most of my muscle, gained some weight, and procrastinate a lot of work while not taking any online courses. I tried several other methods of working at home but truth be told, nothing is like lifting a heavy ass bar and squatting or deadlifting it. But I plan on going back to this system asap. The thing is though, what can I do not to make my entire system based on me powerlifting 3-4 times a week? I tried just forcing myself to work but I just lose like 80% of my productivity and sit there starring at my late articles and only write them right before they're due.
