Can I install this if my cobalt did not come with a keyless entry key fob or alarm but has power door locks.

Keyless entry capability is installed from the factory, the module is simply used to sync/program the keyfob to your car. I would run the VIN online to see what it was optioned out with when it was new. That should tell you whether it came with keyless entry or not.

Okay, I have an ‘09 cobalt which the battery died on the fob and now only the panic works on the fob… do I still need an OBD to fix/reprogram it?

I wouldn't think so. Try replacing the battery first.

My Pontiac shows a remote start option on the radio settings and I turned it on. My key fobs gonna be delivered in 2 days I’m wondering if the remote start would work since the Pontiac mentions remote start

I bought a reprogrammer for my 2009 Chevy cobalt LT and after I programmed a fob to it, my engine light came on. I ran the code reader and got a p0700 code and u0073 code. This makes no sense why it came on right after I did this but it’s been fine. I only have 89k miles. Any help/ideas why please?

p0700 it's usually a transmisión issue code and it's got nothing to do with the security system of a car..it was just coincidence I think..

have that p0700 my self before on a neon I would check the speed sensors I'm not sure exactly if its the input or output the one that grows that code ..I don't remember but I decide my self to change both anyway to avoid issues on the feature..lol

If your car didn't come with remote start from the factory it won't work

if you get an after market replacement FOB from china, good luck... some work, some do not, do not blame it on the programming tool.

My Chevrolet dealership quoted $49 to program. But... my fob is not OEM , so I will find out when I get there if they can still do it??? Still waiting on the Locksmith, that does this sort of thing, to call back. Seems these youtubes are making this procedure appear way easier and cheaper than in real life!?? Have tried all the other methods of holding door locks with one finger - turn the ignition key several times, simultaneously pushing on certain FOB buttons, waiting 30 secs for locks to recycle... on & on. I have a 2005 2.2L L4 Chevy Cobalt, which has hardly ever given me trouble in the 6 yrs I have owned it.

@@gsxss3741 that key fob won't put you car in program mode like the Gm fobs. So when you have tpms light you will pay someone to fix it. With Gm remote you wouldn't.
