This is what I've been looking for. I tried a lot to improve my American accent.I bought accent reduction books with audio and I even bought Rosetta Stone CDs but none of them are close to this videos.An amazing presentation.Thank you Dennis.

I have a question about the first sound of this video, you said in the previous video "ɪ" (it sounds like a short "e") so, why do't you pronounce this sound "eɪ" (like "e + "short "e"). It sounds like "ei". I hope you can understand me. Thanks for the amazing video. ❤

in /ɛ/ sound is the tip of tongue touch the lower back teeth?
@Coopos4 жыл бұрын
Hi. For me, the tip of my tongue is at the bottom of my mouth behind my lower front teeth. The front of my tongue (behind the tip) lightly touches my lower front teeth, but it does not press. The tongue does not have to touch the teeth though.

I often used to mispronounce the word *Say*. In the infinitive form and in the present tense we say the /eɪ/ vowel => say /seɪ/. And in the past tense, however, the vowel sound changes to /ɛ/=> said /sɛd/. And one very interesting thing to notice is when we say She Says, He Says and It Says, we don't pronounce the /eɪ/ as is Say /eɪ/, but we actually pronounce /ɛ/=> says /sɛz/. With the /ɛ/ vowel and the /z/ consonant. What the heck! English is so confusing when it comes to pronunciation. 😵😵😵😵

Thanks for explaining this. As a native speaker, I don't always realize the difficulty some of these words cause for people. I agree with you that English pronunciation is confusing!
