Before I got my current job in February, I was really into mould making and resin casting. I was just getting into flexible casting when I got an interview and I haven’t been able to get back to the moulds since. Fingers crossed the new year will afford me some time. Thank you for your videos.

Very impressive, getting the urethane mixed, loaded and degassed in the syringe, loaded and degassed in the mold, closing, clamping, and pressurising in the 7-10 minute working time. While shooting video. I make production molds for medical manikins. Lots of hollow silicone rubber parts, some silicone overmolded on silicone. Basicly three dimensional puzzles.
@MiniaturenGalerie5 жыл бұрын
i always thougth urethane rubbers, like silicone, inevitably have a much higher viscosity, making them really hard to cast with more intricate molds. this product seems to have the casting abilities of resin and rubber characteristics after curing. (this has been helpful!)

Great, just have to know the limitations and properties of what you are using and work with them.

Eric, Thanks as always! For overmolded parts of two different materials (resin and silicon), how do get them to stick together so Ty don’t separate and develop air pocket in between them? Thanks

Not possible, both materials hard and soft need to be urethane

Hi Eric, i found this video totally fascinating. Very methodical work. I think you've missed your calling in life...you should have been an industrial designer !!! Did i see masking tape on your scalpel blade near the end of the video? Stay safe Eric and keep up the good work.
@EricStrebel5 жыл бұрын
Masking tape on the blade is so I don't cut the part accidentally some where.

Great video! I'm going to give it a try for my project. Do you think it would work to waterproof a hole to be able to push a switch button inside a electronic device?

Possibly, yes

eric how do vary the Shore level? just different ratios of same two liquids or different liquids entirely?
@EricStrebel3 жыл бұрын
Good question That's something that each manufacturer figures out. You cannot mess with the ratio of the resin You have to order a specific resin with a specific hardness
@chadherrick34335 жыл бұрын
Eric, How long does is the pot life for the urethane that you are using? How long does it take your vacuum chamber to get past 29 (or near full vacuum)? I'm finding that if the pot life is under 10min that I don't have enough time to mix the urethane, degas it, inject/pour it into the mold, and the place it in the pressure chamber. What pot life and viscosity do you look for when purchasing a urethane? Obviously it depends on the part but this seems like a key factor to success. Also how closely do you regulate the temp in your pressure chamber? I find that some urethanes have incredibly small temp ranges listed on their technical data sheets for curing temperatures. Your videos are an incredible asset to the online community. Much appreciation!

It looks great! After figuring out how to make it, how much working hours go into making one part? I am wondering if a product like this could be produced economically beyond the proto phase.

Well I don’t fully still understand your question but I think you want to cast a flexible object from a hard master, you just need to choose the correct durometer material when you cast for your application
