I have a conundrum with oral minoxidi. I have been taking it for 6 months and can confirm there has been no difference at all. A pharmacist in the gym told me at this stage to stop taking it. Is it possible that it is slowing down my rate of hair loss somehow? It is difficult to confirm. I am disappointed about no regrowth. It's hard to tell if my hair follicles are benefiting. It hasn't exactly got worse but that could be due to finasteride. Is the baseline with treatment to keep what you have rather to experience any regrowth? Could it be benefiting me? I have been on finasteride for 18 months. I believe the last roll of the dice is to switch to dutasteride now. I accept regrowth may be out of the equation so need the last line of defense. I am 27 and compared to when I was 17 my hair volume has totally left me! 60% reduction in volume. I have noticed very small leaks since taking fin DHT suppressor but overall I think it has definitely slowed down my hair loss. Oral minoxidi costs £49.99 for 60 pills.

Hello Jasper. I hear your issue with oral minoxidil. With most treatments it’s difficult to see results until around 1 year of use. There is some evidence that oral minoxidil can support hair regrowth so you might want to stick it out for a little longer before giving up! In general though you’re right, medications are mainly for kicking the can down the road - they delay the inevitable. If you catch the miniaturisation process early you may be able to get some regrowth, but not always. Have you tried micro needling? There is new research to show that when combined with minoxidil, you can almost quadruple results.

Maybe try topical? I found topical worked better than oral minoxidil for me

@@gass3764 the Belgravia centre recommended this to me. The 8.5% strong stuff. They are a good or gold standard but I believe archaic and expensive. On reflection it's not something I want to entertain. I have long curly hair and although I was committed I don't think it will be practical for 25 years. I was close to doing it. I feel if I were to get results oral should work. It's possible the topical would still not work. It's something I might have to die by the sword by. I don't want to apply the topical. You may be right. I told the Belgravia centre I bet they will start selling oral medication soon and to get with the times. I'm bald and they haven't taken my advice Yet.
