Can you talk about the actual pump session. What does a 15-20 minute pump session look like? When during the session to switch between massage and expression. That would be helpful.

Thank you for this video! I have learned a lot in the last 3 years with my son and daughter; I find myself pregnant with my fourth and I’m finally feeling confidence in my ability to pump! Your videos are extremely helpful and I also find exploring different pumps to be quite fun! I have struggled a lot with lip/tongue tied babies and breastfeeding difficulties, but you really help break things down for us. Always grateful for the work you do!

I don't feel like you gave out any information though... all of the topics are fair but no tips were given no info was provided. Example - let downs are important. Ok - so how do we deal with them?

How to adjust is a big one too! My IBCLC taught me what to do if I’m a little short once in a while and how to adjust my pumping schedule as baby gets older and sleeps longer. Game changers

Why am I only getting an ounce of milk while pumping but still have a lot more milk when I hand express or nurse? I’m wearing the proper flange insert. I had an oversupply and was pumping 4+ oz of milk. Now I’m lucky if I get an ounce from both breasts.

Can you please do a video on off brand Amazon pumps like IKARE and PARUU and what would you compare it to as far as the brand name pumps. I recently got the “hospital grade” black and silver IKARE and it works amazing so was wondering what your thoughts are on that

On my spectra I typically just use the letdown function the entire pumping session and adjust the suction as needed throughout. It takes about 10 minutes to fully pump. Is it okay to use the letdown function the entire time? I found it works the best for me.

I believe the letdown function stimulates letdown, which is often foremilk instead of the more fatty hindmilk? It comes out easier because its more watery, so it gives more volume. I use a spectra too and found that when my milk goes in the fridge, it separates and helps me distinguish what I'm pumping. If its more watery looking (foremilk) i think baby digests it faster and gets hungry soon after.

I realized I have to do hands on pumping for max output - the pump doesn’t do as much for me and moving to higher suction is painful. I don’t know how many women have this - but this has probably messed up my supply - while it month #6 pumping, she is technically 3 months, since she was born 3 months early - I don’t know if I am gonna ever get to enough.

To empty in a shorter amount of time, are you able to compare different flanges and options, not sizes? Lactek just came out with a flange that suposedly mimics a baby feeding (dont they all claim this) just curious if that actually does what it says

What do you mean by a workable schedule? I've already done the downward spiral and am trying to get myself back to breastfeeding after going almost exclusive formula with breastfeeding as a "topoff" method for about a month now. My baby is almost 4 months old.
@NewLittleLife
@NewLittleLife Жыл бұрын
A schedule that actually works for you. I see a lot of people starting to pump every 2 hours, or adding night pumps, or power pump regularly, and sometimes that’s just not “workable” long term. Are you pumping as well as feeding at the breast?

I’ve been struggling with an uneven milk supply. I am 3.5 month postpartum and in the beginning didn’t have this issue. However, it change 2 month into the pumping. I think the problem is that milk is not being fully removed from one breast. I am pumping exclusively and have to express milk by hand after the pumping session. I changed the flange size but it didn’t help. I am using two pumps - medela pump in style mostly during the night and willow go during the day. They both fail at removing milk from my right breast while removing efficiently from the left breast. Additionally, I’ve been developing lumps in the areola area which I massage to prevent mastitis. It looks like ducts are being clogged but not sure why it happens. I should mention that my right breast is larger than my left - at least 1/2 size or close to a full size larger. Did anyone have similar problem and found possible solutions? Thanks in advance.

What about having a flange that's too small? How big of a problem is that? I can't find a flange big enough for my nipples that fits my pump
@NewLittleLife
@NewLittleLife Жыл бұрын
Having a flange that’s too small is a huge problem, it often causes damage and is quite painful. Most people don’t pump with a size too small very long because it is terrible. It’s quite uncommon to need a size larger than 27mm, a standard large size. Are you by chance trying to fit the whole areola in the flange instead of just the nipple?
@quigli
@quigli Жыл бұрын
@@NewLittleLife No, my nipples are just huge, apparently 😭 Baby can barely open her mouth wide enough to get it all in there, and she's got a shallow latch because of it. I got a 30mm flange (I have the Bella baby pump) but even then my nipples are rubbing against the sides. It's definitely uncomfortable but I can't find a bigger flange to fit my pump. She's a month old as of tomorrow. Needless to say, it's been a rough month, but I'm determined to make it work Edit to add: I can't really afford to buy a new pump right now

Thanks for the video. I'm new to breastfeeding (3rd kid) and new to using my pump as well. I purchased the even Flo electric double breast pump and boy has it been a struggle! I got just one ounce because I was figuring out how to use the machine correctly and when it finally worked, I believe the flange size is too big , the box only came with a 28 mm size ! Which I believe is too large because my breasts are pretty small. The next smaller size I can order is 24.5. Should I go for it? Pumping was painful with the larger size too. Thanks
