People want three things in a used car for $5k: 1-cheap 2-low miles 3-reliable I tell them pick one and for each additional point they want double their budget and if they want all three triple their budget.

I agree to an extent. I think people getting over concerned with high mileage is an outdated concept. Modern vehicles will do 200k with minimal maintenance. I still think this is where making sure you buy from a reasonable adult is crucial.
