Just a quick overview of how I go about finishing 90% of the yarns I spin. This is a hard finish, that somewhat felts the yarn together within each strand, but gives a lovely soft final yarn.

For decades I've used a salad spinner to remove excess water from silk apparel after hand washing. I can't believe I never thought of it for natural fibers. Thanks!

Absolutely! I use it for hanks of yarn, hand spun and or hand dyed, fleece and locks, and even small knitted projects! Natural fibres can hold so much water, a quick spin can really reduce drying times!

What’s a “hard finish?”

You can finish handspun yarn lots of different ways, for example really gentle for art yarns, or 'hard' like this, felting the yarn slightly to increase the durability of the final yarn. Also called fulling.
