At the beginning you show crimp connectors but you used compression connectors, Why?

If you are using ccs cable you just damaged the cutter in your tool. That stripping tool is for copper cutting only.

Why do others say to remove the foil?

Remove foil about halfway up the white dialectic because foil is in contact with shielded braid so you don't want it too close to the center conductor.
