Yes absolutely Take more power and freedom away from we the people. Don't let us decide for ourselves. In industrialised government training centres aka schools continue to fail to empower the people with critical thinking and information about the difference between law and legislation, for example. How can the people choose for themselves whether alcohol is right for them when we have been so dumbed down by the system. What would we do without you wise ones attempting to decide for us?

I thought at first you were saying you’re 17. Sadly even staying sober as a teen is unusual it seems. I waited until 21 and learned in college that most everyone drank in high school even the scholars. I basically lived under a rock through high school and had no social life so I was never subjected to that stuff. Tried it at 21 and all my friends were so shocked to hear it was my first time. They were giving me drinks all night and I hated them all (the drinks) lol. Drank a few more times before graduating and never liked it. It tastes like I imagine car gasoline tastes lol. Lost a brother to drunk driving recently and thankfully he only really hurt himself with his mistakes. Have another brother and brother in law I really wish would quit and I guess I’m lucky I never struggled with an addiction. Seems bizarre to me that drinking isn’t looked at in the same negative way as overeating or smoking.

Sex addiction food addiction and drug addiction cause shrinking of the prefrontal cortex. According to Google Bipolar people also may get brain-shrinking damage, which may cause other physical illnesses, they used to be more sexual and cheat on partners. Alcohol and smoking cause men to decrease testosterone. Sex addiction and porn addiction also causes lowering the intelligence level and losing memory. It seems that maybe addicts live in fantasy about how smart they are, yet their brain becomes dumber and dumber. The only way to maintain happiness and youth is doing meditation, and practicing empathy and gratitude is part of it too. Some say its the orgasm between brain and heart. because it activates the enzyme called Telomers, which makes people feel happier, look younger, and live longer, It increases immunity and epigenetics.

Be careful brody. All of us former alcoholics started that way. Next thing you know, you're waking up on Monday - Sunday drinking whiskey. And sneaking that drink on lunch break at work. You know whiskey is really good mixed in coffee 😉 Anyways, you can still develop Cirrhosis or Liver Disease only drinking on weekend btw. It's happened to plenty of people. If you heard all the stories about what drinking regularly can do to your body you'd want it banned too. 25 - 35 year olds are dropping dead from alcohol abuse from conditions you'd think only older drinkers suffer from. Also, it's well known that almost everyone lies about their alcohol consumption so they dont look bad and irresponsible. Especially the ones at the bar every weekend you can bet they drink at home too weekdays. My girlfriend claimed to be an "only weekend" drinker until a few months into the relationship she slipped and admitted she drinks a white claw before going to work. I'd bet money you don't drink on just weekends. Anyways alcohol was a lesson I had to learn for myself so I get it. Drink away bud.

It’s only a problem for the weak, the rest of us just enjoy it for the pleasure it is. My indulgence is fine wine, which tends be a an expensive indulgence at 600 to 4000 dollars a bottle ( there are many who can afford much finer and more expensive wines than that) but for me that price range is typically where I find I get most bang for my bucks in terms of price / quality and frankly I’m not one of those people who can afford 70000 or 100,000 dollar bottles, or more. It is however one of my great passions in the same way a wonderful black truffle is.

Everyone metabolizes differently. Alcoholics are typically fast metabolizes and so they get a buzz quick but they loose it quick so they start ‘chasing’ that buzz. Slow metabolizers can have a drink and the feeling stick with them and not desire another. People who are alcoholic typically are very deficient in vit D(more sunlight) and b vitamins, the alcohol makes them feel better short run but long run runs their body down, something to consider if you have a loved one stuck in alcoholism. My dad is a recovered alcoholic, his dad died of cirrhosis and so did his dad. My fathers kids have broken the cycle. Supposedly liquor was called spirits because as you drink, your spirit becomes weakened and if you black out, another spirit comes into your body….
@Dustandfuzz
@Dustandfuzz 8 ай бұрын
@@randomcole619 Totally agree. Vitamin D and B vitamins. B for brain. And doesn’t everyone feel better with sunshiny days than day after day of rain. Vitamin D comes from sunlight. I have to supplement in this climate. Even with sunny days in winter here there is not enough skin exposure to get enough D from the sun. Too bundled up in order to keep warm outside. B vitamins benefit your entire nervous system. I firmly believe if I had known about them when I was very nutrient deficient I would not have broken out in shingles. Had a terrible case with no anti viral drug prescribed, not sure why it wasn’t given, maybe negligence. Ended up with a lot of damage done to the nerves and post herpetic pain for decades. So get all the good nutrition you should be getting, especially B and D vitamins. Then you will be happier without alcohol.

Been an alcoholic for 10 years, I’ve cut down quite a bit from where I came, used to drink 750mls in a night, now I can make that last a week, still got a long ways to go, but Atleast now I feel more capable, and I have many nights and events where I can simply say no to drinking all together. Fighting back on those impulses always feels rewarding. When you really sit down, you have so many addictions in life, and when you realize and fight all of those addictions it can be so rewarding.

My social life is way healthier (playing games, having meaningful discussions instead of just getting drunk together), i have a better job (also not turning up hungover) and a great family life. It got rid of all the toxic people i had in my life without even realizing it! I thought that by quitting i would lose my friends and not have fun anymore, but i actually made way better friends and have way more fun. Drinking alcohol disrupted my pleasure circuits, so i had really high highs, and really low lows. Now i have highs and lows as everyone does, but without feeling like shit regularly. My anxiety has lowered, i think more clearly,... if anyone is wondering what it would be like to go sober, please give it a shot you won't regret it! Thank you for this video

Went to the hospital three times, the third was the worst and last and I hoped he'd be out and be able to recover while in hospice, we were holding out for hospice to show up but the aholes took too long. Watched him breathe his last, my sisters and one of their husbands were there to see it too. Now I have to pay attention to my mother and watch and pray she doesn't suffer the same fate. Rest in peace, dad. You can finally sleep and no one will wake you up. I hope no one ever has to witness a loved one of theirs go through what he went through.

While I find that the first half hour I feel socially anxious and usually alcohol takes that edge off, if I don’t drink, something cool happens, I spontaneously relax sometime between 30 and 60 minutes and feel great and enjoy everyone’s company and don’t find myself saying impulsive silly things like I would when I’m drunk. 11 months today. I cannot believe it’s been almost a year since I was hallucinating and hearing voices because I was so dehydrated from being so hungover that I couldn’t even keep water down. I found out that the reason I was abusing alcohol is because I actually have very severe ADHD that was going untreated. I did not get on medication for it until a couple of months ago, so I had quite a bit of sobriety under my belt, but now I realize that drinking alcohol and blacking out almost every single time was a dopaminergic seeking behavior. I’ve lost weight, tightened up my friends circle, set boundaries, and fell in love with all my old hobbies that I had as a child, that I was either ridiculed for, or had taken away for me as a punishment because I was having trouble focusing, and just getting along in school. Life is just so much better now.

I couldn’t agree more. I quit 10 years ago. And I was the kingpin drinker. Even though my life might not be totally stress free, I can say that today, I’m able to conquer more sober, without any medications, then ever before. It was profound. The stark contrast between old me and new me is staggering. It’s nice when you KNOW YOU HAVE A GOOD CHARACTER because you can REMEMBER WHAT HAPPENED and how it all went down.” Good feeling. Less anxiety. Insecurities played a role certainly, but lack of understanding and MISTAKEN BELIEFS were the top cause for me back then.” ☑️💯🤟so I worked on it.” It can work

Have gone from drinking daily (for years and years) to just drinking on Saturdays and maybe 1 week night (going on a couple months of this pattern). Its hard to get over the hump to eliminate it all together. This video helps. I'm 45. Will keep trying as hard as I can. Congrats to all those in the comments that have taken it out of their lives!

I've consumed alcohol very conservatively since first doing so in my late twenties. I've been what one would call a light "social drinker" most of my life. No more. I finally quit completely at the age of 61 when I found out it had likely triggered a frightening episode of atrial fibrillation. I flat-out quit alcohol three months ago and it has completely changed my outlook on the world. The relief of stress that I used to feel from consuming alcohol has likely been what's been killing my motivation for years. What I feel now when I avoid alcohol in such moods is an urgent need to change my behavior in a positive way. Now, when I feel stressed, I do something real and positive about it instead of simply masking the feeling and losing out on the positive force of that emotion.

Im so happy I quit early. Started drinking like 6 months ago, easily got out of hand to the point I was having 6 500ml beers (12 std drinks) almost every day before bed. I stopped getting the hangovers but felt terrible the next morning, recovered by afternoon and repeated it again at night.

I quit December 7, 2007 and it’s the hardest thing I’ve ever done. I was lost in the worst way and the pancreatitis and the seizures almost got me. Not my liver. It had me so bad that I wanted to die, and when I was drinking, I was ok with that line of thinking.

When I drink I feel like a split personality version of myself, which is significantly more tired, negative, apathetic, unmotivated, depressed, dumber and less creative. There’s rarely been a time where I thought afterwards ”I’m so glad I had those drinks!” My mind usually just goes into all kinds of negative thought loops and everything in the world seems more awful.

Thank you for this video. I tune in to Andrew Huberman often, I love learning the science of everything ~ I'm so grateful for his content, and so grateful that it led me to this video. I have known that alcohol is a problem for me. I eat healthy, grow my own food, live in a heavenly isolated place and yet alcohol has been a low-level constant for a few years following a trauma. I just tipped half a bottle of vodka down the sink, and I'm looking into online support to quit. This video tipped my scales in a way nothing else has, so thank you from every cell in my body ~ I'm excited about the health benefits, and that is a strong motivation for me. Thank you again for editing this together ~ it is exactly what I needed to learn - what I needed to see and hear in order to cut alcohol out of my life.

I thought I’d never be able to live without getting drunk as I had fallen in love with it. It’s crazy how bad it is for you. Everything about me feels better. My sleep my stomach everything else is easier for me just in a week. More energy more happiness more calm everything.

@@limitisillusion7 I would say it's more of an issue of being able to eat large caloric intake values of healthy food vs trash food (which is much easier), and at the end of the day more calories = more gains, albeit not always as high quality of gains as possible.

Both of my parents are alcoholic and they were pretty violent against each other. My mom has a mouth that spills lots childish arguments and poisonous words (sometimes directed against me and my siblings). She also shoves him pretty harshly sometimes and it lasts for all evening and nightime, which causes my dad to eventually snap and attack her. But me and my sister (and sometimes my brother, he was out a lot), had to always intervene in their fight... And it was happening EVERY frigging weekend and on their so called "little saturday" on wednesday... Now me and my siblings are already over thirty years old, so of course we moved as quickly as we could ot of that household, so we don't have to suffer that type of environment anymore. Both of my siblings don't drink anymore. My sister tried it couple of times when she was younger, but thankfully she never got addicted to alcohol. My brother also drank a lot in his younger years, but now he just takes one beer for when he goes to sauna. As for me I decided at young age that I would never ever put that life ruining poison in my mouth. Sorry had to get that out😅
