Be careful with how you spend your time if you were truly heavy into video games. I quit back in the spring of 2020 somewhat unintentionally due to work. Well I basically just ended up filling that time with KZbin. Which honestly is worse imo. What you watch on KZbin is so niche most of the time that you can’t really relate what you watch to other people like you can with a video game or even a TV show. Not to mention it’s a completely passive experience, at least with video games it’s mentally active and there is at least some socialization if you play online with friends. I also think it made me use corn more. Get bored of KZbin? Why not just bust quick and then come back. Just be careful and choose active hobbies/activities (mentally or physically) to replace gaming.

I wanted to do things but would never take action to do those. now that I do gaming way less and take the excercises in the morning I can have more energy and time to start to do the things I wanted to do like 5 years ago. Pro tip to overcoming an addiction: Understand the underlying issues in your life that are driving you to whatever it is you are addicted to. It is almost always about running away from problems or negative emotions, so if you can find out what is "wrong", you can better deal with the core issue
@Mae-k4b23 сағат бұрын
It’s not always addiction-it’s often a lack of purpose. During COVID lockdown, without a job or hobbies I could no longer do, I turned to porn and video games. But once I found productive things to work on, those distractions faded. Many people aren’t addicted-they’re just filling a void from lacking goals or meaningful relationships. Each generation faces this: Millennials had internet-fueled porn and gaming, Gen Z adds social media, and the next trend will be AI slop/AI companions. The real issue for some people is a lack of direction and fulfillment.
@BjornMakeitso6 күн бұрын
Is cold quitting gaming really the right path? How about reaching a balance with school, excersize, friends and gaming. A person will eventually have to control his/her own fate when leaving the nest anyway. You need as a parent to get the kid ready. Be a proper parent and teach your kid.

@Sidweddingphotos076 күн бұрын
Though this is a hypothetical question but the answer is yes. At the same time, the advantages of working out regularly far outweighs the "potential addiction" to workout. Also, getting addicted to workout is very hard because you cannot workout without putting in physical effort which increases the friction. I have not seen unsuccessful, unhealthy people who are addicted to workout.

Fair question! I’ve heard from some studies that not being able to go without something past a couple weeks is a sign of dependency. Some psychologists/neurologists recommend at least a 24 hour break in the week from excessive dopamine, it helps your brain refresh in different ways. A longer “dopamine fast” has been said to benefit mood, focus, social capacity and other factors of health. Do the research if you’re interested but it’s often good to take breaks from things in almost every aspect of life. I would argue that pornography is terrible for you and the science is starting to show, but I also have moral/ethical/ religious values against it. To each his own. Hope my suggestion to pursue this stuff helps

@OP-lk4tw6 күн бұрын
At one point why do you wanna live for if you can't do anything that's fun because it's too stimulating, moderation is key, if you can't moderate something because you like it too much then you have to eliminate it, but if you do that with everything then life sucks
@johnmoore14956 күн бұрын
Set clear defined boundaries and don’t break them. For example no games before your work/school work/chores are done. If you commonly have bigger tasks/projects, don’t let yourself play until those are done too. Or what I did in middle school and high school that helped me back then was: No video games Monday-Thursday, I could play Friday after school, all day Saturday if I wanted. But then Sunday I had to get my work done before I could play games on Sunday. Idk your age or current responsibilities but maybe if you’re just a normal working adult, try no video games until all your basics are done AND no earlier than say 5pm and have a hard cut off point.

No thanks I rather look at 10s online than settle for a 2 who tries to get with me in real life. Let society rot to the core. I will not settle for anything less than what my father got. In 1977 he got a solid 8 with dd natural bombs and he was just a 5 with no money.

I like Huberman but he can't really speak from personal experiences most of the time. Everything is so clinical and that's fine but I always prefer learning from people who have had real world experience. Prime example is his morning routine, in the work I do I am on site usually by 6:00am with and hour commute. The idea of easing into the morning and doing all of this self care prep stuff is ridiculous to me. Lovely in theory but completely useless for majority of working people

I felt the same way when he did that weed podcast, it was informative but at the same time you could tell he hadn't had a clue of what it even was he was talking about

I mean in your case you can still wake up earlier, I know people who start work early who will wake up at 3AM to get things done

@SteadyCat yeah I'm up at 4 and work 12 hour days usually mate. You can't do his routine even if you wake up earlier. There's no sun at that time of day and a decent part of the routine is getting a little sun and walking barefoot on the grass. Yeah nah doesn't work

Quitting porn today 🧠

Great content, thank you. It may be helpful and affirming if the big man were to affirm that these ARE unusual times for men. Namely, that a larger share of women go for a smaller percentage of men, leaving a larger share of men lonely. My pr0n dependencies reflect more that women are increasingly woke / neurotic / unrealistic -- much more than a feeling of helplessness / addiction.

you quit youtube bud porn and gaming the only joy in life for most men.. success in life and career advancement are the most overrated thing to aim for and moreover there is no end to it you go at it until you retire :D if you think about it the root of all anxiety is work and expectations, porn and gaming help a lot in relieving stress

There are plenty of other ways to form normal coping or stress relief routines in your life. It takes time. Ask yourself this, "does porn bring me anything worthwhile or meaningful in my life". The answer should be no. It's like any other drug, but normalized, and don't say "it makes me feel good". I had stopped watching porn entirely recently after realizing I would only do it at night or when stressed. It's just a way to cope, but unhealthy. I note that I feel a subtle ability to focus on activities or study for longer. I notice that I don't really think about it anymore, and I redirected it to meeting women. A new fire has been lit to form healthy relationships with people around me. I actually feel motivated for form bonds or connections that are meaningful in my life. Please anyone that reads this, just move on, move on from porn. It is not good.
