A day that was about to be unproductive and guilt ridden has been saved :) I was feeling down, tired and miserable - now I've done my workout, prepped ingredients for a healthy dinner and I'm about to go visit my elderly grandpa. The dementia still takes a toll on me, but now I feel okay enough to go. I can say that NSDR genuinely saved the day

I am grateful for this NSDR protocol. I find it valuable to do anytime I need to when I am awake. The instruction to look down at myself with a spotlight illuminating different parts of my body and my whole body I have found to exercise my imagination. I do find it difficult to imagine expanding the spotlight on the backside parts of my body if I am looking down at myself, i.e., calves, hamstrings, back of my head, etc.

For those are open to it, and are getting more familiar with NSDR, trust me, do not neglect the intention part of this practice. Huberman has said that this is the only difference between NSDR and more traditional Yoga Nidra. Its amazing that there are such profound restorative effects on the table, and "science-ifying" yoga nidra has allowed more accessibility to these effects by removing any "woo woo" / spiritual stuff. But any deeper digging into the history will show you that the true intention/purpose of yoga nidra from the eastern perspective, is to put your nervous system in a state, with such low noise, and such calm that you are in the MOST susceptible state for thoughts to "travel upstream" into your subconcious. NSDR always made me feel recharged, but it wasn't until i added this very small step that i felt my life cascade in a new direction. Massive improvement in mood, self belief, confidence, reduced anxiety. All of the good stuff. Try to think of yoga Nidra as a priming step for this very crucial piece. Give it a try :)

Could you please explain a bit more what do you mean by - intention part? :/

This was Wonderful. Much Needed. Thank You, Dr. Huberman! Bless you & Yours actually...it's Very similar to a class i used to teach back in the early 90's, right after our Tang So Do Karate class. Very similar. ...i taught others how to do what i had always done since..well..as far back as i can remember..cos..childhood was not what it should have been & i had to adapt to survive. Getting in touch with every aspect of my body & mind helped me Master Control of this body & mind..and when our Teacher noticed my level of control..he asked me how i did it. Long story short, he asked if i would be willing to teach a class on it..the rest is history. Until everything changed when hubbs died. i shut down. forgot the class..forgot everything..had no 'support' group cos..death makes people uncomfortable & they avoid discomfort like the plague. Right or wrong, not my call to make, it simply is what it is. Now, many years later..i woke up this morning & realized apparently i'm gonna have to live anyway..so..might as well get on with it.. & here i am. Compiling a few external HDs of Health & Wellness videos, Zazen, meditation, brushing up on the newest Medical & Tech, & all kinds of interesting DIY...even gonna try new recipes......got 4 ext.HD's full now, to begin using today..by playing them on my large screen TV, interacting, or following along, as i move around. Your video is leading the pack...#1. Starting point.

This is awesome! Thank you Dr. Andrew! My father (RIP) taught me to do this when I was 10 yrs old. I am now 57 and have used it on and off throughout my life. I never knew what it was called. He called it self hypnosis :-) When I was going to school and working full time, right about 3pm I would go sit in the break room for 15 mins and do this. I called it "power nap" because I think I felt sleep and it recharged my batteries for the rest of the day. Then, I would do it again to fall into deep sleep and be ready and energized for the next day to do it all over again! Good times!
