Oil cleanser, gentle cleanser, mineral sunscreen, soothing moisturizer with niacinamide, allantoin, glycerin, occlusive and maybe some of her favorites botanical extracts : soy, rice, aloe, licorice, green tea in a seperate moisturizer for the botanicals fans.

Thank you so much for this video and the notes! Recently, I was scared into the thought of having to go 100% natural with everything because all these ingredients are bad. Wouldn't most of us love to have this lovely dermatologist right by us when we're in the skin care aisle faced w/ hundreds of products ?! 😁👍 How great would it be for her to be right by us, translating those long words on labels, telling us what would be best for us !? Thanks to what I've learned, I have changed the liquid soap on our sinks to Cetaphil cleanser instead of SoftSoap. I'm learning, tho, by binge-ing on her channel . So grateful for her sharing her vast knowledge.

A "Skin Care By Andrea" line of products seems mandatory now. I just subscribed. I CANNOT seem to get through your videos quickly enough for my liking. A very sincere kudos to you; every woman needs to see your videos. Andrea, you are a gift to us. Thank you! I hope your efforts here manifest into something wonderful. My sis is an MD (Emergency Medicine) and she gets her share of free samples from Derms (of course I lovingly steal them) but I never really knew if they were good products or just free ones. Glad to see many Cerave in my loot. And now I have a much better, comprehensive understanding of their ingredients - both the good (but wrongfully demonized) vs. truly irritating. You've gifted us with powerful information and empowerment! You, Dr. Dray, Rock! (and Hey! from Austin, TX)

Cannot thank you enough for defining what is , for me at least, very confusing terminology. I have never had problems with my skin, and am about to turn 65 and am taken for much younger. Based on the public consensus I have done everything wrong. I wish there was a way to post a close-up of my skin without makeup. When I was young I didn't have the money for expensive products. I used Vaseline, castor oil, zinc oxide and baby oil. When sunscreen became available I added that. As an adult I just continued this since it worked for me. I adore the CeraVe in the 16oz tub, their mild cleanser, cleansing cloths and both the AM and PM moisturizers. This has been a new addition as I learned about them and how to use them properly through your advice. I took ballet for many years, and in high school was required to use very heavy stage make-up for recitals and competitions. If it were not for tubs of Vaseline that stuff would still be stuck to my face. My grandmother and mother always used castor oil to soothe their upper and lower eye lids. I buy it at CVS or whatever pharmacy is close by. No special type as long as it is sealed. Most say they are laxatives. I use Q-tips or finger tips to apply. Also great for correcting mascara mistakes. I am sure genetics play a part since my children and grandchildren have beautiful skin. I never was a sun worshipper so possibly that kept my pores small. By the time I hit 50, my pores began to disappear. In my mid 60s now my T zone is finally drying up, but no clogged pores from many years of using the WRONG products. HUGE HUGS and enormous gratitude for sharing so much knowledge. Btw I really agree with the idea of writing a book. You have so much knowledge to offer, in addition your sense of humor and presentation are delightful. Put it all together and it would make an extremely entertaining learning experience in print. Wishing you continued success no matter which direction you decide on. I honestly am certain that you have countless fellowship offers. Hope the sun is shining in Houston.

Looked at the neutrogena hydroboost and it's basically a bunch of emollients, humectants and stuff to give it slip. So much dimethicone and variations of it. i never really researched each and every ingredient in skin care products cause it was so overwhelming and I didnt know where to start, this video was so helpful. After I graduate from cosmetology, I eventually want to go back to school for my esthetician license, so this information is gold to me! Keep up the awesome videos! Maybe one day I can learn how all these ingredients are sourced and made.

Dr Dray This may be too old to alert you to a question, and i did hear you discuss squalane... My experiences with that ingredient boils down to the spelling and how its procured. Squalane used to be extracted from shark livers. Squalene is procured through an olive-oil based process. I've also seen both spellings interchanged. I am not a fan of cosmetic farming, but i cannot figure out which spelling describes the animal- or plant-based version. Thank you for reading this if it even appeared on your notices. 😊

This was so great.. I am a big fan . So great to hear someone push sunscreen and discourage fragrance. I love squalane in moisturizers. This was full of useful information. Petroleum breaks me out and I have dry skin. So it's hard to find good occluisves. I noticed many cream, that I like have shea & squalane or panthenol. So I started topping off my creams with shea butter to buff up the occlusion. That got me through winter . I was hoping adding a dfew drops of squalane oil do the same.. I had no problems with it, but was not wowed by it. I used one Garden of Wisdom (olive based) and one from Lotion Crafter (sugar based and thinner)...

Thank you so much. This has been extremely informative. I always assumed that any thing that had alcohol or ethyl as an ingredient was bad and probably very drying. Love your vlog...looking forward to more videos. Thank you!

Very informative and greatly appreciated info. Thank you. I've been double cleansing for a few months now - thanks to you. I alternate Biossance Squalane Cleansing oil with the Heimish balm. Then 2nd cleanse with Cera-Ve. My mature skin is very happy.

Thank you for sharing your clinical knowledge with the world, and for busting so many skincare myths. Poorly researched topics and misinformation are my biggest pet peeves, and the internet is full of it. I will no longer be taking skincare advice from just any attractive KZbin "guru" with a good quality camera, charisma, and a persuasive tone, just as I wouldn't take nutritional advice from a non-dietitian. The work you're doing here is needed more than ever right now, as the skincare industry has saturated (no pun intended) the market with sexy, luxurious, and incredibly expensive products. Yes, consumers now care more about their skin and the ingredients they're applying. But the ingredients they seem to be avoiding are all of the benign ones like petrolatum, silicones, and parabens, and including the irritating ones like essential oils and papain because those are "natural". Or worse yet, the most expensive products are assumed to always contain ingredients that are better for the skin than less expensive products, and people are throwing their money away by buying them. Seriously, the marketing teams at these cosmetics companies are composed of geniuses. It's sad, but most of these companies are not looking out for your best interest, they're trying to sell you shit, and always have been. In some instances that means excluding harmful ingredients or including truly beneficial ingredients based on consumer demand, not because they care about you.

Thank you for this video Dr Dray. This is kinda what I needed at this moment but things are looking better now for me because of you! My skin was freaking out a few months ago (in fact every now and then previously eversince I was a teenager) and I didnt understand why until I chanced upon your first video. I have seen a few dermatologists, took accutane twice but it didnt last for long and all I wanted to know is the root of my skin problem. I was always told I have acne-prone, sensitive oily skin, etc. Now I have learned not to over-exfoliate my skin, use a gentle fragrance-free cleanser, apply moisturizer on wet skin and incorporate benzoyl peroxide at night and sunscreen in the day into my skincare regime to help with the breakouts and after just a few weeks, my skin started looking better even without any oral medication or any of the jazzy facial stuff you mentioned that werent neccesary. And now I finally realised that having fragrance in a product can really be problematic to one's skin especially when my skin was not at its best. I have since stopped using products with any fragrance in them and I can now go out confidently with no makeup. Sorry for the super long comment but I truly hope that more people will chance upon your channel like I do and benefit from your advices. You are really making a difference here on youtube! Lotsa love all the way from Singapore!!! ❤

Such an informative and well explained video. Thank you! Question - the face moisture I'm considering going with does not seem to have any preservatives other that buytelene glycol. Is that enough? Being imported from oversees is concerning the product will be degraded without preservatives, what's your thoughts? Hada Labo super hyaluronic acid hydrating light cream. The ingredients are : Water, Hyaluronic Acid, Glycerin, Niacinamide, Butylene Glycol, Water/ Butylene Glycol / Portulaca Oleracea Extract/ Soluble Collagen / Xanthan Gum/ Sodium Hyaluronate/ Cnidium Offininale Root Extract/ Pueraria Thunbergiana Root Extract/ Glycyrrhiza Glabra

You’re channel is so informative thank you for shutting down those misconceptions out there and putting our fears to rest. More people need to watch your videos, they’re the best. Quick question, what can get rid of stretch marks? Does bio-derm really help? Or only Retin-a be used for it?
