since there is no indexation in any asset class, taxes cannot be avoided, they can only be deferred. The future tax rate might be higher. If you hold on to your investments for too long , your annual income might exceed 50 lakh threshold and you will also pay surcharge. Also the stamp duty for MF is Rs. 5 per lakh and STT is Re 1 per lakh. so total cost is Rs. 6 per lakh. So if you rebalance Rs. 10 crores the cost is Rs. 6000. There is no brokerage if buy funds from the AMC. So go ahead and rebalance.
