For the others who read the comments. I know I may be teaching to the preacher.. Just in case. I use my phone and take photos at the different stages.. Then print them when re-assembling as a reference guide.. Great video.. Nicely explained...

Thanks, you have a great idea. I was just talking with someone and they mentioned AI glasses by google, that sounds real helpful. It would cut down on a lot of back and fourth.

FYI, the small o-ring goes just below the small metal plate towards the top. More disassembly is required to replace.

I will address that next time. Thanks

Buy some tiny super stretchy rubber bands at the craft store. They should have enough stretch to go around the air can. Hopefully they don't dissolve in the grease inside the shock.

Have you done curnutt air shock build videos before? I’m going to have to rebuild one and I think it’s going to be fun.😊

I’ve got a early 2000s fox float rl When I push down on my bike the shock sometimes squishy noise. It is also leaking a little oil onto the body/stanchion. Do I need to rebuild it or is it another problem? Thanks
@BikeTeacher4 жыл бұрын
Squishy sound could be normal. The leak could be remedied by a air can service yourself.

Did you find a kit for your shock? I have the same shock as you and haven't been able to find much

Can you help me get the manual for this rear shock because I have the same one on my bike but I don't have the manual for it, and can't find it on the internet, and is the one in the video Fox Float RC 195? By the way awesome video, really informative!

Glad you like the video. I struggle trying find any info for parts and installation alike. I end up down a frustrating rabbit hole myself.

Where did you get the pick that you used? What's an alternative?

Enjoyed the info. I lost my body eyelet screw/nut while out on a trail, and I've been trying to find the size of the screw so I can replace it. Anybody know?
@BikeTeacher4 жыл бұрын
Not sure, I would head to a hardware store and try to replace it with something similar in length and a matching nut. Or call the manufacture and get the specs or they may send you something.

Bom dia, you poderia fazer a manutenção do Shox vivid Air R2C 2012, pois o meu está com defeito, e não consigo consertar. Gostaria de saber também se posso substituir o nitrogênio por Air normal de bomba? Thanks.

If it is leaking air thorough the locking lever what can I do?
@BikeTeacher4 жыл бұрын
That may need to be serviced at the factory. Depending it's age it may not be serviceable. I would call the factory and ask them.

anywhere I can send a fox Float L for rebuild? I'm in San Diego..thanks @Biketeacher

Do you local bikes shops offer anything? Ask them about QBP. That is a nation parts supplier that has a shock service center.

I have this shock, but I don’t understand how the blue lever works. Can somebody help me?
@paulywogtheburnin8r3644 жыл бұрын
Not sure how it works but the lever is probably lockout. This means that when you get it in a certain position you can stop the shock from compressing. To figure out how it works look up the year, brand, and model and you can probably find a manual that will tell you how to adjust it. Hope this helps
@BikeTeacher4 жыл бұрын
Very commonly color coded by manufacturers to indicate compression adjustment. You want it soft as heck when defending but not too bouncy. Make it stiffer when you need less input from pedaling. Think of the wheel tracking the ground at all times.

Sad thing is Fox doesnt make that shock anymore and I cannot find a shock that fits that frame Jekyll 2001 model. If it fails the bike is scrap metal.
@BikeTeacher5 жыл бұрын
Bummer, that’s sometimes the issue with Cannondale.
@michaelscott77065 жыл бұрын
I fixed it today it is holding air and working like it's brand new. I used the new seals and lots of silicone paste with the fox oil. It gave me a hard time to put back together but it's back together everything works 100x better. Rides like it's brand new. Also I converted my bike back to rim brakes it feels lighter without the calipers.
@michaelscott77065 жыл бұрын
Your shock is like the rl it just doesn't have treads on the casing.
@zackman3693216 жыл бұрын
What happen to that piece
@gmyatko6 жыл бұрын
I double checked. At 3:07 of your video, the first large white seal that you re-installed, you didn't pay attention to where it goes together, that it can be installed with the seal ramps incorrect, which is what you did. Your second white seal happened to go on correctly, but you don't mention this important item either. This most likely can cause oil to make it from the oil section to the air section, or vice versa. Maybe?
@kg4lod2 жыл бұрын
The orientation isn't critical. The purpose of those discs is to provide slip to the elastomeric gasket they sandwich so that it doesn't bind or tear against the casing (or when dealing with contaminants). Even by your logic, installing one in each direction (as shown) would be optimal since the pressure gradient works in both directions over the full range of operating conditions.
