I bought everything listed in this video and set it up exactly how you have it…step by step but I keep getting a constant pop noise whenever I speak into the mic. I used the voice memo app on my iPhone but the playback sounds terrible. A lot of static and when I hear my voice it is extremely distorted. I know I did everything right… The audio coming from the iPhone sounds great but the mic sounds terrible. Can you help?
@kettnercreative2 жыл бұрын
Really hard to guess without seeing it myself. I would try reducing the gain a bit and moving the mic so it's 3-5" from your mouth.

Thank you for this video, Jordan! I do own the YamahaMG10XUF mixer, and I'd like to ask a couple of questions, just in case you could help: 1) Would the same setup (meaning the cables & adapters) need to be used for getting & recording sound right from the mixer, while recording a video with your phone? Meaning that, the phone would be used just as a camera basically, and the mixer as an audio source, which could automatically sync with the video. 2) Is there a mobile application (or any other digital workaround with this model) which would allow you to change your mixer settings, during a sound check, before a live performance? Thank you very much in advance!

Great video, Jordan! I've binge watched almost all the Yamaha mixer vids and gained a greater understanding from all of them. I do have a question though, that may be an easy one or maybe I'm just hung up on the wording. When you describe the headset adapter that you plug into the phone for the mix minus there are two cables you're using: the lightning to headset adapter and the one with the XLR plug. Your affiliate link for the lightning to headSET adapter goes to a cable that says headPHONE adapter, and in fact, any of the similar cables I find on Amazon (even the Apple certified ones) all list it as headPHONE adapter. I can't see anywhere that confirms that the socket is a TRRS like you say you need, but are these one and the same? Thanks Jordan, I appreciate it.
@kettnercreative4 жыл бұрын
Hi Malcom. Great comment. As far as I know, Apple only makes one variation of the lightning > headset adapter and they call it a headphone adapter for some reason. I believe looked up the specs (can't seem to find it now. We have about 40 of them at the shop for rentals and they're all headset adapters, we only buy the official ones from Apple.

Great videos. I've learned a lot. I tried the mix minus setup (phone guest), and the caller said I sound as if I was talking through a radio; I did not sound crisp over the phone. However, I recorded the conversation through Garageband, and everything (included my voice) sounded very clear and crisp. So, the guest caller was the one who didn't hear great quality sound through the phone. Any tips on how to provide the guest caller a better listening experience? Could it be cheap XLR audio cables?

1. In Yamaha MG10XU Is it possible to record dry voice on the computer while using Effects on monitors at the same time? 2. For live Facebook streaming, how can I increase the volume of the music track played on the computer and how to increase the entire mixer sound (balanced voice and karaoke) for the audience? They complain that the volume is pretty low. Post Following your videos - I turned up the gain and the master levels, but it’s giving lots of feedback noise from my monitors. I don’t use head phones. Please suggest what to do. I must say - your videos are really helpful!
@kettnercreative2 жыл бұрын
1) No, the USB output is a copy of the Stereo output and is POST (after) effects. 2) If you need a separate mix for your live stream compared to in-room, you will need a digital mixer to manage both mixes. Personally, I would compromise my in-room sound to optimize the live stream. 3) To avoid feedback, you will need to turn down your monitors, reposition your monitors, or use in-ear monitors.

it seems to me that this mixer and the Xenyx 1202USB (i own both) will not send playback of recorded audio from my laptop back to the mixer for monitoring *_via USB,_* and to monitor what i've recorded in my headphones, i would have to send audio from my laptop's headphone jack to my monitor input on the mixer, which is lesser quality (TRS) than the actual recording. am i correct? and if so, may i have a suggestion for monitoring the recorded audio from the laptop to my high quality studio monitor headphones? also, i don't just find loads of info from your videos, i _enjoy_ them, because they _excel._ and i love your outro!!

No, If you press the USB/Line button on 9/10 and "To Mon" on 9/10, you can monitor from the USB no problem.

The gain for live-streaming needs to be as close to 0 as possible. When you're recording you generally your peak around -12.

Yes, you can connect a phone to the MG10 as well. The only difference is that you use the AUX knobs and AUX send (instead of FX knobs/send). Just the labels are different (as the MG10 doesn't have effects). The setup is exactly the same.
