How to record helmet audio YOU CAN USE AN APP

You can use the AUX port on your intercom, or an app on your phone, but I still prefer an in-helmet mic setup.

This video is not supposed to have all the answers! As anyone will tell you, helmet audio is trial and error, with many ways to achieve a result. I don't use the latest cameras (eg. GoPro or DJI) so there may be better ways for those. (See MotoFeelz latest vid, for example.)
This video is about 1) whether you can capture audio via your intercom hardware, and 2) my personal helmet setup which works for me.

Thanks a lot.....tried your app route, on my iPhone ......and now Im finally able to record my voice speaking into my communication set (Sena) without any single more cable or unit...it works great. Sena SC10U and Sena 50R. The Sena SC10U in my Schubert helmet delivers lower volume than the 50R. All recordings is synced to iCloud, so when back home they are already saved on my Mac, ready to be synced into my video recordings. Thanks again !! To make sync easier I press the motorcycle horn (three biiiiips) when starting recording video and audio

Personally i use a sena 10C which doesn't have a great camera but it records my voice , music and intercom, then i use a gopro for the better video. Only complicated part is syncing them in editing. There seems to be alot of different ways t get a similar results. Less moving parts the better i think. Cheers 4 sharing sir.

Oh thanks for the tip on the Bluetooth Record Enabler! I record my vlogs from my Cardo to my Voice memo app and it drives me kinda nuts how it switches off the intercom to my mates! That said, I'm sure they probably appreciate not hearing me talk to myself.

I use my GoPro with the mic adapter and a separate microphone inside the helmet,added a windsock and presto!

Very useful, I use the same setup as yours except I don’t record from my speaker. My friend runs an Osmo Action and the audio is completely useless.

Good one Keith. Would be interested in your feedback on the following. SOLUTION 1: Cardo Palktalk Bold with microphone and 2 speakers (standard) GoPro 10 with Media Mod (has 3.5mm mic input) and own microphone (standard) Split off the Cardo speakers into a single channel to feed into GoPro mic input - one channel only (eg: left) into GoPro (via cable / adapter / attenuator [Line Level to Mic Leve] arrangement). I can share if anybody is interested. The GoPro mic gets fed into the other GoPro mic input channel (eg: right) via stereo splitter cable - left channel fed by Cardo and right by GoPro microphone. This works but …. Complicated / a lot of parts / different audio levels on different channels / balance issue between channels / no noise cancelling on GoPro microphone SOLUTION 2: Recently I read a post to a similar KZbin on the topic, and picked up a comment with what is maybe a more elegant / simple but more expensive approach. I have bench tested and works great. In my case, I have 2 (TWO) Cardo Palktalk Bold units on my helmet (the 2nd could be mounted on the bike somewhere if camera was mounted elsewhere / not on helmet). GoPro 10 with Media Mod (has 3.5mm mic input) Cardo #1 with microphone and 2 speakers (standard setup) Cardo #2 only has its speaker output (3.5 socket) connected to the GoPro mic input (3.5 socket) via a male-to-male attenuator (line level to mic level) audio cable www.amazon.com/dp/B01GW69IQ2 Cardo #1 pairs to Cardo #2 and to the larger intercom group as normal. Obviously this is expensive, (I have borrowed the 2nd Cardo for the moment). However, from a benefits viewpoint …. Simple (no rats nest of cables and adapters). What goes into the GoPro mic input is stereo balanced audio from you own voice, Cardo intercom conversations, and any music or navigation announcements heard inside the helmet. In addition, this is with Cardo noise cancelling blocking background wind / road noise for the sound going to the GoPro. Plus the Cardo #2 has its own volume adjuster - so if required the mic input level to the GoPro can be easily controlled (I imagine a 1 off adjustment / setting process). A small negative is 2 Cardo’s to keep charged - I can live with that. ANY FEEDBACK / IDEAS / SUGGESTIONS?

Steve you make my head hurt 🤯! Out of those I prefer 1. I have played with the separate channel thing for different mics, and while it works fine, honestly it's just another thing to have to do in editing... copying the "main" audio channel so you get duel channels of the same thing. Then it gets fiddly when doing cuts. Not for me. I have both mics onto the same channel. Simple. For 2, aside from two intercoms ($$) it's just more stuff to keep charged. My current setup doesn't even require the intercom to be on. Although I don't get the NC from the Sena. But, like I said it is experimentation and finding something that works for you. I admire your solutions! Good luck....

Very good topic Keith in which you bring up some great points. Over the last 12 months I too have been looking into developing a simpler more reliable method of recording all signals coming into my helmet as well as my own voice. I’m using the Cardo Packtalk system and tap into this with a balancing lead (no extra microphone required near the speaker) This captures my voice into one channel (left) on the GoPro and everything else (music, gps and other riders) into the right. During editing you can overlay each channel to suit. Seems to be working pretty good so far. A quick test was done in this video kzbin.info/www/bejne/hHvSXotvmst5qsk and in a couple of my latest videos. We’ll see how it goes in the future and whether it requires any tweaks.

how to get the outside audio with bluetooth record enabler?. my mic from intercom is fine but it was just so quiet bcs there is no motorcycle sound on my audio. please answer this question

You would need a second mic to get bike sound. I have seen people do it with Rode two-channel wireless mics, one in helmet and one in their backpack/saddlebag, then just mix it in video edit.
