I watched over 10 videos and no one mentioned the lock screen part at 7:58. I couldn't figure out why every time I closed the app it would stop recording the screen but locking the screen fixed it. You got a sub.

Thank you! I've watched a dozen tutorials today, trying to get my OBS to work, and you were the first to mention that multiple tracks won't plan on QuickTime. I probably should have known that as I do live with computer people, but I've always been a PC person until I got this Mac and I'm still learning. (That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it!) As soon as you said that, I thought back to all the clips I've deleted and thought, "I bet they worked but I was playing them in QuickTime, so I didn't think they were..." THANK YOU!

Great video, big question though... How can you listen to the computer audio through headphones and still have that audio track record? playing the audio aloud messes with my mic picking up my voice.

If anyone is trying to record their Ableton Live projects you have to go into Live preferences and also change your audio output device there to Multi-Output Device in order for it to record your desktop audio in Ableton Live.

would love an updated version of this. the settings in OBS have changed. tried all above and it doesn't work. Always hated using mac's the frustration to get all the great software to work with them is beyond annoying ha ha ha. Hoping to switch back to windows soon. Bootcamp has been spotty.

Ahhhh, Ive been spending 2 days on trying to get this to work and Still, even after this well done video, My desktop is Still not recording into Mic Aux 2, I did all the steps you said to do. Every exact step. Please help. I really don't want to give up but, this is driving me Mad. lol! Is it maybe because im on an Older mac pro (early 2008. running OS X 1-.11.6. I cant upgrade. I have an older OBS, that runs n my OS. and I have iShowYou Audio installed. I see it in Midi, I set up the Multi Output device, i did all the OBS settings steps you described (and other videos saying basically the same thing) Still no luck..Ugh. Please someone help me out.

Go to settings and on security & Privacy give permission to OBS. That should fix your problem.

NOW is when a new tutorial might be needed. The Catalina compatible version is out lately, your tutorial here works great with it but maybe I missed something because no sound is captured when I do a video capture.

Tchounga Raissa yes, deeply deinstalled the programs related to this tutorial, reinstalled everything and more carefully followed every step he describes. Now working with Catalina.

Thank you for this tutorial, it's very helpful. I have a Macbook air. Why after I create "Display" I don't my screen, only black? And when the new Property for "Display" opens, there isn't any options to check. At the bottom shows a "No properties available", Defaults (Bootom), cancel and OK. When I click "OK", I don't see my computer screen only a black screen.

Well, I've done everything you said. And everything seems to be working fine... except for my microphone recording. It's definitely working, but for some reason, I can't hear my voice on playback. I'm at a complete loss. Nevertheless, this is a very informative and helpful video.

it does actually work! but only after uploading it in Pro Tools where I was able to work with all different tracks. When I did the same on IMovie it didn't work.
