Thanks for the video! My Seagate backup plus is recognized one minute and then randomly it's no longer recognized or is not detected. It comes back eventually after a few minutes. I think it's dying so I'm trying to pull all the data off it but in addition to being randomly being detected, the data transfer is incredibly slow. It get goes up and down between 0 and 8 MB/s. 30 GB takes about 3 hours. If becomes undetected, it gives me an error and I have to tell it to continue the transfer. Thankfully not restart the whole thing. It start up again from where it left off, but I do have to tell it to continue. Any thoughts? I probably have about 1 TB to transfer and it'll probably take me a month!

Well in your case was easy to do when is not showing on disk list … but what about when is showing but not allowed to see the files ? Should I buy a software to recovery or get that “ box “ u connect the external hard drive and see if that works 😪

Can you clone a Seagate external hard drive that doesn’t stay connected by using the off-line cloning function on a docking drive and transferring the data to a brand new hard drive? It surpasses the SATA (which could be faulty). Thoughts?

*This won't work on all external HDDs* when pulled out of a USB enclosure and connected via directly to a motherboard via SATA. I've got a 3.5" Seagate 2TB USB3 external HDD but it show unallocated space only when being plugged via SATA.

Hi I'm hoping you can help with my problem I've been just compiling all my files storages ,photos, videos, my memories since when I was still 14 years old now 23+ from one data bank/storage to another one until I finally able to have a terabye of my own (2TB to be exact). We know that we have tons of data there and precious memeories and with my family and friends together from different occasions. Now that I finally have my time to do compiling due to few times left coz Im workign student. Now I feel doomed that all my files is not being read by any PC, Iwatched the video you created. However, my TB is not being recognized by our pcs theres only optipn to dismount it however no files showing. I will be grateful we hope that you can help us. What should I do

G'day buddy, great informative videos, I'm hoping you'll be able to help me solve a puzzle or at least point me in the right direction? I would be so grateful for your opinion & guidance.. I've recovered some footage from a WD purple surveillance drive installed in an Annke DVR, recovered directly to a WD elements HD (via a sata dock & Windows 10, no issues with the surveillance drive being recognised once I'd added it in diskman, not sure if it's worth mentioning Windows did a format but the existing data was still on the drive when reinserted back into the DVR..). Testdisk has recovered the files as an mp4 extension. The Annke DVR config settings say the footage is encoded H.264+. Every type of software I've attempted to view it with tells me it's MPEG2 or MPEG-PS and I've had no luck with any codecs or transcode or demuxer software when it comes to playback. I've heard about proprietary playback software, but it seems that Annke have not 😬 After watching some of your WD videos, is it possible it's the WD drives that have made it impossible to view the files? Or would it be an Annke compression type of issue? Or is there something really stupidly simple that I'm overlooking? When VLC said nope not playing this & can't fix it i thought fk how am I going to get thru hundreds of GB possibly a coupla TB of footage 🤣 Any hints or tips or tricks or LITERALLY ANYTHING I would be ever so grateful for! Thanks again for sharing your wisdom your channel is awesome 🙌

Good day, thanks for the support. The hard drive just stores the data. Something must have went wrong with the format and recovery into a mp4 file. Data recovery software wouldn't change the extension, it would just "see and recover" Most likely either the data is corrupted or the mp4 files aren't the original files.

i have a Seagate #SRD00F1 external drive (with data) I bought in 2012 having a similar problem. After plug-in to USB port, blue light flashes, musical notes audible but no drive recognition in File Manager or Disk Management. The drive is wrapped in metal, not foil. Do the old Seagates have the removable SATA connectors? If so, can I remove the metal inner enclosure to get to it? This is my backup drive and my main drive just failed. My whole life is on this drive. HELP!
