Love this video, I went wholefood plant based at 40, the results 9 years later, with regular cardio and resistance workouts. I maintain my ideal body weight naturally for the first time in my adult life. I feel satisfied with what I eat, and do not feel deprived. If I do ever eat junk, I feel rubbish like I have a hangover. I crave fruits and vegetables, nut, seeds and wholegrains. I see other ladies my age, struggling with dieting and weight gain cycles, hating their bodies.

I recently discovered your videos, and I am enjoying them so much and appreciating your science-based approach. I had actually fallen down the low carb rabbit hole for a number of years always feeling like it wasn't working as well for me as I thought it should and finding it difficult to follow consistently long term. It seemed that there was so much evidence to support the "LCHF" way of eating and so many doctors and scientists and nutritionists backing it that I was convinced they were right. However, when I was recently diagnosed with Hashimoto's and started researching how I could use nutrition to help myself, I was seeing all of the compelling evidence for a whole food plant based diet. I have started changing the way I eat first by eliminating gluten and dairy, and now I am watching your videos to learn about good resources and tips for meals. I love your very calm and deliberate way of presenting the information. Thank you!

This was so helpful! Are you on HRT? I’m post menopausal and have gained weight in my middle and having trouble sleeping and thought I would try going on HRT would love to hear your thoughts

Okay Sophie, I will start today. I’ve already cut out sugars and started exercise several weeks ago and haven’t seen the scale number go down. So discouraging! I’m 58 been in menopause for 3 years and am trying to lose weight because everything is failing, bones, belly fat and sagging ugh :(. I will now quit meat, dairy and saturated fats. I have at least 40 lbs to lose.

RADICAL HONESTY. I have been watching you for a few years. But I havent actually try it. I am afraid of gaining more weight. I have counted calories, low carb, blah blah blah. And your message resignates. Yet I still feel afraid of actually doing it.

You said here to eat "tons of healthy fat", but I find that keeps me from losing weight and feeling my best. I stay 30 grams or under. 🙂

Plant based nutrient dense diet has been wonderful for attaining a healthy body weight, stomach issues and overall healthy glowing appearance. I cannot recommend it enough. I got my man on board with it, he went from 250lb to 200lb, his A1C went from a 10 to a 6, incredible!!

I am intrigued. But I have hypoglycemia. I feel best with complex carbs, vegetables and certain animal proteins. I never feel as balanced or satisfied on just plants. I am a 69 year old female with good triglyceride levels and no insulin resistance, but struggling with my weight. Do you have any suggestions?

I am sorry I was avoiding eating meat for about 3 years, tried to eat beans, lentils, veggies and fruits. Unfortunately became aneamic and had start including animal product. I mostly try to have once or twice a week liver to build iron level. Started to feel a bit better after 3 months of combining with iron tablets. I don’t believe that everyone can be on vegetarian diet. I have never had weight problems dough

What is a remedy for feeling nauseous or sick every time I eat a salad? I’ve been vegetarian since the late 80s and have tried to switch to vegan and cannot find base foods that don’t make me feel sick.

Are egg whites bad? I’m trying to keep or build muscle while keeping calories low. Drinking vegan protein with greens and berries. How about collagen powder? I’m post menopause and can’t take HRT. looking for low cal higher protein staple foods. What kind of yogurt do you eat as a vegan? Thank you.... you look fantastic!

For optimum health, I would avoid eggs. I don't love animal-based protein powders for many reasons. There are some great vegan ones. I like Kite Hill yogurt.

@@SophieUlianoGorgeouslyGreen I do use a vegan protein powder. I use Garden of Life Raw Organic Protein. I am dairy and gluten free do to health reasons. I just wondered if you could recommend more foods for keeping muscle on after menopause, or do I even need to be worrying about protein? I don’t want my hair to get any thinner. There are so many issues as we age. Thank you for trying to help us. It’s hard to figure it out with so much information out there....and it’s all conflicting. I appreciate it.

In the video she said to eat nuts, seeds, and avocados for healthy fats. Not oils, animal or processed fats. Our bodies need fats, but you have to eat the right kind.

Healthy fats keep me full. I limit my meals to 15 net carbs - it’s not about eating low fat necessarily, I personally eat some nuts and avocado because it is healthy

@@kathystoner5239 Chef AJ was vegan for years but not slim. She even eventually was eating whole foods but the weight wouldn't budge. She talked with some of the leading doctors in the plant based community and they said to eliminate nuts for awhile, to just try it. She told them she knew it wouldn't work for her (she was already measuring out her nuts) but would try it. She lost weight. The weight loss eventually stopped and she went to them again and they said to eliminate the avocados. She told them she knew it wouldn't work for her (she was already measuring out the avocados) but would try it and she lost the weight, lol. Some people are just really hard losers. Some people eliminate these healthy fats until they get to their ideal weight *and then* begin to add back in the fats. That way they can see how much fat their body will allow before they begin to gain weight. Most people seem to be able to add the fats back in after they have lost the fat. Check out *Chef AJ* and her story...you can even go back a few years and see what she looked like as a vegan chef who was not slim and what she looks like now...very, very, very thin. I don't think she ever added the fats back in. Check out *Plantiful Kiki.* She lost 70 lbs on whole food plant based. She had some fats along the way and then stopped loosing weight until she cut the fat out. Once she was at her ideal weight she began to add the fat back in and does eat fats now but knows how much her body will allow. It doesn't need to be a forever 'cut out the fat' situation but it may need to be that way for awhile so your body can get going on emptying it's current fat stores. Best of health to you!
