Hi Olga, KZbin just popped this video up for me. Just want to say that I'm so happy that you are sharing your knowledge with regards to soil health etc., I totally agree with you. Kind regards Kerry from Adelaide South Australia x 💜🙏😇🇦🇺🕊️

Hi Kerry! I am glad, and yes, soil is the key to gardening. I am so astonished that many gardeners don't get it.

I love this series of videos Olga! Do you perhaps remember the specific type of butterfly bush in your yard? It is glorious! 🤩💜 Looks even larger than Grand Cascade or Violet Cascade, and I'm looking to add a large buddleia to my garden this year. Thanks again for sharing.

@@OlgaCarmody I have a question, if I’m using pine nuggets should I use a weed fabric. I have terrible weeds that I have removed but I don’t want them to come back. This is in a area that has a small flower garden spaces. I hope it’s ok tho. Also have u had termites using this kind of mulch?

This was a wonderful video Olga! I have learned so much from you about healthy soil this year. I put composted cow manure, composted wood chips, and leaf mold on my soil this year. With in month I noticed a difference in how much easier it was to dig in my soil. I garden in a very arid zone 4 in Wyoming. I spent a few years wishing I lived in a warmer zone, and planting plants for a warmer zone. Then I realized the trick is to find many plants that grow well in my area. It has been an empowering challenge. I now have a lush and beautiful yard that comes back every year, despite our harsh winters.

Hi Amy, yes, agree. Native plants are soooo rewarding! I am going to do a video about the huge importance of native plants for our gardens. Folks just fall in love with foreign gardens and plants and don't realize that they are into big trouble, trying to keep those gardens going in different climates. Happy gardening!

Olga this is such a great video! I live in CT too. I have a huge beautiful ninebark that I never prune. It is magnificent. And so low maintenance! Native plants are the best. Can't resist hydrangeas though, even though they require so much water in this heat!. Love your channel!

Hi Izabela, I can't resist hydrangeas as well. They are big babies of my garden, requiring maintenance, but the blooms! Oh!

I am slowly adding shrubs to the garden. This fall I hope to purchase at least 2 more rose's. As a 61 year old trying to grow vegetables as well, I have to have a little less maintenance. I did "scatter" flower seeds in the spring and have had some beautiful "accidents", flowers growing up in the middle of other flowers. Because I stay with 3 main colors and 1 accent, it is working out beautifully. However, if I am able to add more shrubs this year, I don't plan on doing that again. I really enjoy learning so much from you, thank you.

You are welcome! I also had accidental seeds in my garden. Tomatoes grew out of nowhere in my raised beds. I gave them a chance and now they are dealing with drought conditions so much better. Smaller though...

Haha, thanks for waking me up from my blueberry dream 😄 I learned that our city water is mainly alkaline and our soil is mainly neutral. Time to let go of these blueberrie shrubs.

Hi Olga!, great video! This is a little off topic, but I was wondering what you think about what I think is called compost tea. I’ve been trying to do that lately. ( I think I’m doing it right.) So far I believe my roses are responding well to it.
@OlgaCarmody2 жыл бұрын
I love compost tea, don’t do it regularly. It is a great way to supply micronutrients to our plants!
