also, general tip: the better airflow is in your PC, the slower fans must spin. the faster your fans spin, more vibrations they generate, for me, i have my PC side always open, that way i dont need a lot of fans spinning fast. besides my video card which has 3 fans (GTX1080), i have only one Noctua FAN on CPU DH15 and another case fan, thats it, and they spin at 1200RPM, which is quite slow. vibration issues usually occur when you have bad or restricted airflow and low quality fans which spin fast - thus generate a lot of vibration. so, to eliminate vibration first thing to do is to provide adequate airflow, replace fans to better ones (noctua for example) and at least have side panel open is a good start, then gradually lower speed of fans and monitor temperatures, avoid excessive overlocking, do not run your CPU 5Ghz if 4.5Ghz is enough. and only in the end use other 'rubber tips' to remove and remaining vibrations. also, dont use spinning Hard drives, they vibrate ALOT!!! today SSD are quite cheap, and if you really need that extra space given by even cheaper spinnig hard disks, consider getting a NAS or build one from old hardware and put it in another room.

SSDs are still up there in price in comparison to HDDs. Most premium cases like the O11D for example provide anti vibration pads for HDDs to minimize vibration. My PC is practically silent despite having a +13 year old WD Black HDD in it.

I have a lian li 216 that has 2 huge 160mm fans on the front that would vibrate my whole desk when on 100%. I used rubber washers that came with the case and worked well for me, case vibrates a little and still a little noisy but at least the desk vibration is gone.

If it's the cooling fans that connect through the top of the case to the cpu cooler, and then the fans is there longer mounts for these situations?

If you mean fans on a radiator then no, these will still need to be screwed on but you can use rubber corner mounts if your fans don’t have them already.

Sadly my Define C has slides, not holes for fans - So sadly I cannot use the anti vibration rubber mounts that comes with high end fans such as Noctua. Even the built in ones dont seem to do anything really. Oh and I have 2x NF-A14 PWM in the front, 1x NF-S12A PWM in the back. What I resorted to was to put an extra little rubber washer between the case and the fans, then screw them in. That seems to have done the trick. I didn't do it with the rear fan (the NF-S12A PWM) and it is my far the loudest of them all.

The Meshify 2 we use in the video has slides as well and these rubber mounts work fine. We thought they would simply slide down but they hold really well and the fans haven't moved at all since.

@@TechLabUK Whoops repost, yes I can clearly see the rear fan dropping down when using the rubber mounts, but thats ok. It's the front fans I'm worried about. They'll never be able to be held in place with rubber mounts sadly. Not with a slide fan system.

@@vBDKv We pushed the rear fan down in the video as we like it to align as close as possible to the front fan lol. We have them mounted to the front also, didn't show that in the video though. Added a couple of images to the Community tab of this system with them fitted (Might have to zoom a little). 2x 140mm in front,. once the weight is applied to them they don't seem to move anywhere although we were worried they would.

you can also buy very cheap rupper flip-flop beach shoes made of rubber, and put your PC on them, that way any vibration resonating from PC to your desk (desk especially) will be silenced by rubber of flip-flops. works fantasticly..

Can you remove the fans that are mounted without damaging or cutting those "rubber screws"? Or do you have to get new ones if you need to remove and reinstall?

You can remove them, sometimes takes a little squeeze and wiggle from the other side but they will come out and can be re-used again.

I have no mechanical drives in my pc now and I changed all my fan mounts with the rubber anti vibration mounts which has helped alot. but i still get a random vibration coming from something. It's not my gpu and i cant see it being the fans.. I feel i maybe missing something. Any ideas?

It can only be moving parts. Usually Case Fans, PSU Fan, GPU or CU Cooler (If there's no mechanical HDD). Sometimes coil wine from a component can sound like case vibration as well.

Update. Rebuilt the pc into my old lian li o11. All 9 fans are mounted with the rubber mounts, and I have software pushing them to top speed, no vibration. I have lined the bottom rear of the case with foam as there are many cables against the floor. Now and then I get a non consistent vibration which when I tilt the case to the left (looking from front) it stops. But when I take the panel off the back, I cant see what it can be. Any thoughts? I am stumped..

@@tdome3000 It could just be the type of fan. i am sure people have used sprays to help them a long, but I think it depends on the type of bearing the fan has.

@@TechLabUK In the worst case I can order another fan if GPD doesn't send it to me. I found the model on #ali and ebay. I was mainly worried about where one would spray that WD40, because I don't see any "opening" where the fan's center is. Or if it would damage the laptop's motherboard if it got in contact with something else. I didn't know if it is "a thing" to grease fans or if it make no sense at all.

Just installed a Noctua NF-P14s redux-1500 PWM as a front fan on my corsair 450d and I hear this little hum from it. It's ignorable, but it still bothers me enough to wonder if these pads would stop it. It's not a buzzing, but a "whirr" kind of sound.

@TechLabUK 2 жыл бұрын
We use 2x 140mm on the front in this case and the are silent. A "whirr" would suggest a fan sound but could be some form of vibration into the chassis.
@WormyLeWorm

@@TechLabUK Yeah, listening closely right now, it almost sounds like a "tapping" in a way; it's not quite buzzy but it's like hearing an airy stacatto sound if that makes sense. It's not a smooth sound, but a bumpy one. Almost like a fast consistent morse code, but a fan sound. So it sounds like a vibration at least.
@TechLabUK
@TechLabUK 2 жыл бұрын
@@WormyLeWorm It could be vibration or sometimes the PWM signal you can hear. Check to see the speed they are running at, ours on the Aorus board are run by the BIOS so they go full speed on boot up and then slow right down as they don't need much speed to push a lot of air on a 140. It could be a combination of both so the PWM signal vibrating into the chassis.

@@TechLabUK Looks like while idle they're going at around 1100 RPM. Quite a bit faster than my stock fans indeed which seem to be going at 600-900.
@TechLabUK
@TechLabUK 2 жыл бұрын
@@WormyLeWorm 1100RPM seems a little excessive for idle. I believe ours run 500-600 when idle. They are controlled by the motherboard with a custom fan profile set feeding from the general system temp.
